Hamri to Direct Sisterhood Sequel

Alcon and Warner Bros. have hired director Sanaa Hamri to helm a sequel to 2005's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, reports Variety. The original core ensemble -- America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel and Blake Lively -- are all in talks to reprise.

The plan is to begin production June 3, starting in Greece, then moving to New York and Connecticut. The challenge on the sequel has been squaring the availability of the actresses because of TV series commitments, but the hope is that all the actresses return.

Written by "Pants" co-writer Elizabeth Chandler, the sequel uses as its foundation "Forever in Blue," the fourth installment of the "Pants" novel series by Ann Brashares. Bits of the second and third books will also be used. The girls once again take different paths during the summer, but remain bonded by a pair of secondhand pants they take turns wearing.

Now college age, the girls have storylines that take place in Turkey, Greece, New York, Vermont and Providence. They faced some heavy dilemmas in the original film, but the sequel concentrates on issues 19-year old girls deal with. While the original film was PG rated, the sequel is likely to be PG-13.

Gilmore Girls has been cancelled

After weeks of talks aimed at bringing the show back for a limited run next season, the CW and Warner Bros. TV have decided to wrap production on the quirky dramedy that focused on fast-talking femmes. Skein, now in its seventh season, will air its final episode May 15.

"Gilmore" was a holdover from the now-defunct WB network. Debuting in 2000, it quickly became one of the Frog's signature skeins, with crix eating up the witty banter between mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel). Series was set in the fictional hamlet of Stars Hollow, CT.

CW and WBTV released a joint statement noting the passing Thursday morning.

"Announcing the final season of 'Gilmore Girls' is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television," statement read. "This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters."

David Rosenthal exec produced and served as showrunner on the current season of "Gilmore," which was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. WBTV and CW thanked the producers and cast for their work, as well as crix who supported the show with glowing reviews.

"(We) promise to give this series the send off it deserves," statement said.

It been kinda getting boring the last few seasons anyways. Plus this was expected, apparently Alexis doesn't want to do another season anyways.

I'm sad that it's been cancelled but I didn't expect an eighth season... it had a really good run

ASP really f-ed up the last season when she screwed us over with Lorelai and Christopher. I'm so pissed she did that. I don't want another season but I still want to see Lorelai and Luke have a real relationship, not just a "I'm-leaving-my-husband-the-series-is-over-and-we-are-living-happily-ever-after"

Boo

But YAY for Sisterhood sequel!

I was so sad to hear this news. Although the last two seasons were really dry the last few episodes have been very good!

Can you believe there's only two episodes left?! NOOOO!! I hope Rory doesn't end up marrying Logan - that would be annoying...
