All About Belts S/S 2006

I really am enjoying this thread! :) Belts...lovely, esp if you have the nice waist to wear them. :)

Belts are very nice.
As long as they are not worn down on the butt.

:D on the spot JessicaIsBizfrap

Belts have never looked quite right on me because I have long legs and a very very short torso. :( Even with 'super low rise' jeans (which sit like normal low rise jeans on me), my top still always covers my belt and I hate that big bulge under your shirt. Know what I mean?

...no. I'm absolutely over wide belts. have been for the last 3 years. cannot do this look at all.

I lucked out and got the Yves Saint Laurent black patent leather knock-off at H&M this week.

To make matters even better it was 50% off! Less than $10 I guess...

Can't stop wearing it but also picked up some super cool vintage ones over the weekend that are even better. Anyhow, if you like this look go check out H&M's "Divided" line for spring. There are LOTS of wide belts.

Does anyone know the name of the Australian designer who makes or has made a diamante belt in the shape of a bow , I think Keira Knightley was wearing a variation of it maybe at the Globes. Well whoever makes it it is a gorgeous belt.

I postive it was part of the gown, which was designed by Valentino.

I like wide belts but I'm so dead-over the 50's silhouette... how many freaking seasons in a row has it been?

Fantastic pictures, Desire! Is this a trend only for women, or also for men?
i'm guessing it's only for women, it'd be a bit odd on men. but i've found that long coats you tie up at the front give a look that nods to it, both looks have the high-waist tailored thing going on and are both very now. the only way i've been able to make this look okay on me is by putting a skinny belt over loose t-shirts and cardigans, but it does look pretty extreme, so be prepared for funny looks.

i have to say i think i'm getting sick of this trend already though, the only good thing to come out of it in my opinion is a reconsideration of high waists on women.

what do you think of this gucci belt? any thoughts?

This has probably already been discussed but I wanted to revive this thread and discussion since it hasn't been touched in months...

What kind of belts are you guys seeing around/wearing this spring/summer?
How do you see belts fitting into your wardrobe?

I have been wearing a wide white vintage belt (straight from my mother's closet) lately around dresses and with black skinny pants and black top....
I think the look lately is very much about defining the waist and belts certainly do that if worn high enough...

I also wear a regular width (it would fit through belt-loops of pants) around an untucked button down..

For me, I feel like no type of belt is off limits.... whether it be chain, beaded, braided, woven etc... as long as you get creative with it I think it willl work

need help!

i bought a black stretch waist belt (wide). but now, i still dunno how to work it out on me. any suggestions?
