The famous human rights attorney and her husband, actor George Clooney, revealed the sex of their twins via Clooney’s mother last week, and the mom-to-be is wasting no time in bringing her prim yet practical approach to a working wardrobe.

Clooney opted for a layered look, topping off her fluid dress with a red duster. This isn’t the first time she has made a bold statement with her outerwear: While in New York, Clooney combatted the cold in retro-inspired styles from Giambattista Valli and Paule Ka. But for her first big reveal as an expectant mother, Clooney kept things sleek in elongating lines. As for the underpinnings, she offset the bold nature of her coat with one-note shades of gray and black. Fitted black leggings tucked into practical biker boots grounded Clooney’s ensemble with edgy polish. But with many months to go, here’s hoping she also experiments with some amazing vintage looks, like the Chanel couture number she sported recently in Davos.
