With its glittering Lurex finish, the Stella McCartney look Clooney chose to wear yesterday was a more dramatic approach to romantic dressing than we’ve seen in the past. Indeed the floor-sweeping number seemed primed for a major red carpet entrance. Amping up the Hollywood effect were equally A-list accessories: oversize hoop earrings, a sculptural gold bracelet, and coordinating metallic clutch.

Earlier this week, Amal Clooney was spotted out dining with her husband George at Villa d’Este, the exclusive Italian hotel overlooking Lake Como. The human rights lawyer gave birth to the couple’s twins Alexander and Ella just this past June, though she already appears to have the full post-baby wardrobe down pat, and has been experimenting with new fashion ideas including a bold, strapless Elisabetta Franchi jumpsuit and shimmering Stella McCartney evening dress. Clooney has taken things in a new and stylish direction once again with her latest look from Rosie Assoulin, swapping out her much-loved minidresses for a sweeping silhouette.

Clooney paired her maxi pants with a delicate camisole from the same label, and brought a sense of drama and romance to vacation dressing. With her hair casually tousled in easy waves, she didn’t need much more to finish the look other than a sparkling clutch and gold bracelet.

Oddly enough, that lipcolour works for the lilac dress. She looks every inch the starlet here. Could do with a more modern hairstyle though.

Amal Clooney Does Post-Baby Power Dressing at the United Nations

Amal Clooney is back in New York City and visited the United Nations earlier today. This week has seen the U.N. welcome heads of state from across the globe, and Clooney, no stranger to the entity, has often come to champion human rights causes. A year ago, Clooney wore a red Max Mara suit when she spoke alongside Yazidi refugee Nadia Murad. Today, she opted for the bold shade again in a skirt suit by Bottega Veneta.

Clooney often wears red as a sign of strength and power, and the Bottega Veneta look had some vintage undertones. The cropped jacket highlighted the attorney’s post-baby physique, while a to-the-knee skirt added modesty. A contrasting pussybow blouse was a subtle touch. Complementary accessories by Michael Kors and Manolo Blahnik added lightness and ease with their neutral tones.
