Be careful when chewing gum, yawning or indulging in any other eyebrow-raising activity during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week — someone somewhere in the world could be watching. On Friday, American Express will launch the American Express Fashion Network, an online service that will bring the live action at the Bryant Park tents to americanexpress.com/style. The company has set up Webcams throughout the tents and will offer live streams the entire week, from runway shows to backstage views and other tent areas. Viewers will have an option of streams to watch, and the network also will provide special interviews with designers and industry executives, fashion forecasts and trend reports. Robert Verdi is the network's official host, with Roshumba Williams serving as a special correspondent.
"The American Express Fashion Network enables designers and industry insiders to highlight the shows, share their personal views and gain meaningful visibility with consumers everywhere who are passionate about fashion," said Jessica Igoe, director of sponsorship marketing for American Express. The live stream will run throughout the week, and clips will be available for viewing afterward. American Express also plans to syndicate videos to other Web sites and is posting the Fashion 360 Presented by American Express program with highlights from the network on YouTube.
