"The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.

I have always been very open and honest about this part of my life with my friends, my family, and my colleagues. In a perfect world, I don't think it's anyone else's business, but I do think there is value in standing up and being counted. I’m not an activist, but I am a human being and I don't give that up by being a journalist."

thoughts?

Stating the obvious, really. I've always found him oddly attractive. Something about those piercing blue eyes.

About damn time, huh? Good for him.

haha... yeah, I think most people knew already (I mean, he's always seen around the city with his boyfriend, it just wasn't officially announced).

I really like this part of the quote, though: "In a perfect world, I don't think it's anyone else's business, but I do think there is value in standing up and being counted." It mirrors my own feelings on the matter.

I don't find him attractive at all, but I'm glad someone famous stands up for us, after all we are not living in a perfect world.

Um yeah, that closet he had been hiding in was the glassiest one to ever have been built, I think everyone already knew he was gay (even I did and I've never seen that man on TV, ever ).
I get that he thinks it's no one else's business but surely he must have felt all the pressure coming from the outside? The gay community has been pressing for him to come out for a long time. Would it have been that hard to "admit" it sooner? It sure seems like people in Hollywood are still afraid of coming out and they're setting such a bad example for other people who are struggling with being open about their sexuality. But I'm glad he finally did decide to make an official statement.

Finally! Now Michael K (from Dlisted) can officially kick off his mission to be Mr. Cooper's husband.

Seriously though, it was about time he came out. More power to him.

Awww...I love Anderson Cooper! :D And I completely agree with this quote, it honestly shouldn't matter if he's gay or not, nor should it be tabloid fodder. I'm glad that he spoke up about this on his own terms rather then how a lot of celebrities used to announce that they were gay (which was to be exposed without their own consent or have a major announcement in a magazine/tv interview). I'm not surprised by this announcement but at the same time I'm happy that he wanted to say something. I'm sure that for a lot of people hearing Anderson Cooper confirm that he's gay doesn't make them feel alone and gives them hope. He's quite an inspiration overall as a person anyways. And, please tell me, I'm not the only one who want's to be his best friend? I've been a fan of his journalistic reporting for a long time now, plus he seems like he'd be great to have a laugh with.

i had thought he came out last year , but i knew e was i've seen him in Chelsea with his friends, and he completely read gay

I don't like this whole thing with gay celebrities having to make these big coming out announcements. It's like that's the set protocol for how to act. It's like one can't simply just live one's own life; instead, one has to shout about one's orientation from the rooftops because that is what is expected. If someone wants to do that, that's fine, but to make that the standard procedure and to pressure people in to doing that is not good.

I hope there comes I time when each person in the world can live sexuality without the need to confess anything to anybody.
