Andreja Pejić

i-d.vice

andreja pejic is the blonde haired, blue-eyed model ripping up fashion’s rule book

Changing the face of fashion since she broke onto the womenswear runways in 2011, the Croatian-born 22 year old has just revealed that earlier this year she underwent sex reassignment surgery and is now a transgender woman, going by the name of Andreja. Walking for Jean Paul Gautier, John Galliano, Paul Smith and Raf Simons, dressed as a modern day Betty Catroux at Gaultier and in a white ski jacket with bare legs at Raf, Andreja Pejic immediately ignited debates as to whether she was a boy or a girl. Unfazed by gender boundaries, Andreja instead represented a brave new world and a new breed free to wear menswear and womenswear and looking equally as impressive in both. Her unique ability to cross, blur, stretch or break genders on catwalk and in print reflects the erosion of boundaries whirlwinding through the fashion industry. In every industry there are moments that change the way we go about our work. Andreja might just be the change that the fashion industry needed.

I've been very critical of Andreja in the past but I'm pleased she is finally living as the woman she clearly always envisioned herself being. And I'm pleased we live in a society that allows her to do so.

^ An Drey A or Andrea

I'm glad she found her peace love yourself first because that's the only thing that matters

Go for her:clap:. I wish her all the luck & success in the world:heart:. I'm sooo glad that we live in a society where she can find acceptance, peace & her happiness^_^

I'm in shock :woot: well, i applaud her brave to been a woman & i hope to see her again in runway & editorials.

Really lovely news from Andreja, so glad that she is able to live the life that she imagined for herself, she seems so happy which is wonderful. And I'm looking forward to seeing what other works she has coming her way, hoping for lots of editorials and covers!

Good for her. I admire her for her dedication and strength. the only thing I don't like about this story is that all the articles are making it seem like the whole "transition" and surgery was something she just "did" and that it wasn't a long process. I'm actually surprised that Andreja did it so young... Doesn't it take like 5 years before one is ready to even start with hormones and stuff?

yes it is, can be a very long journey throughout the whole process.

she's still on the men's board at dna, under 'celebrity' men... by the name 'andreja'...

I just checked right now she is no longer on the DNA Models website either in the women or men's board, where did she go another agency?

I missed it thanks she said in an interview that they'll put her on the women's board what a screw up
