Ankle boots + skirts...

yeah-

i'm all about short skirts and ankle boots for fall 2009...

^_^

you look great amerie!

Ankle boots + a short skirt is a very fun look, but I don't know, I think a below knee skirt and ankle boots can look good and can be extremely elegant ... perhaps it's just a bit trickier than with a shorter skirt? For example, I think this VB look (pic from style.com) is just lovely:

of course she is a model with mile long legs. But I posted a picture of one of my outfits a few pages back (http://forums.thefashionspot.com/showpost.php?p=3708911&postcount=132) where I'm wearing a below knee skirt and ankle boots, and I think it looks fine. And I am by no means tall! The key might be a straight skirt, fitted boots, and uniform color of the skirt, tights, and boots

Such a beautiful picture from one of my favorite collections, and you look lovely too.

I totally agree, tourist....i don't have long legs and find an over the knee skirt with monochrome tights and ankle boots to be very flattering. The longer skirt length just elongates the leg line, esp. if it's on the narrow side.
I'm really looking forward to wearing slightly longer skirts again....so elegant. ^_^

funny- this is all i see in the media...
but in real life i see taller boots with skirts and ankle boots with skinny jeans....

i think it's partly just a practical thing as taller boots keep your legs warmer...
:P

but i am still surprised by how different the people on the street are dressing from the advertising images for the season...
maybe it's just cause i am in downtown nyc where people have more personal style and don't follow fashion dictates so closely...
or maybe they are just behind the trend or can't afford new ankle boots so are just wearing what they have...
or cabs are too expensive so they are walking everywhere and need to wear comfy flat shoes...

i don't know...
probably it's a combination of all of those...
^_^...

but yeah- i was expecting way more skirts with ankle boots...
:innocent:

^^may be when the weather is warmer??
i know i would wear knee high boots...booties aren't warm enough. plus i have to walk freaking 15min from apt to subway...ugh...

but it's been pretty warm actually...except for a few days here and there...
that is why i am so surprised!

I think it really depends on the heel height. They have to be like at least 3 inches, ideally 4. If they're shorter than that they just make your legs look LESS good, model body or not!

Anyway, I love this look! I like to wear it with a mini skirt and a just above the knee length military coat with big epaulets.. Sort of 60's rocker chic B) They can look good in a lot of ways!! I've been wanting to find blazers with tails to wear them with, I think that would rock..

Girls, keep on wearing your ankle boots and skirts! B:(heart:

If you're doing black ankle boots with black tights I think it's pretty hard to mess up.

It makes you look taller and slimmer, and as long as you don't go insane with the skirt/rest of the outfit, it's pretty universally flattering.

not such a new idea...

Oh! I do this all the time. I do prefer it if the legs are bare, although I personally always wear appropriately coloured tights. The looks varies a lot depending upon heel height/style, too. Not too keen on the wedge with this particular look.

What about with long maxi skirts? I love the idea of wearing them in the fall and winter but have only worn them with sandals in the summer - would ankle boots work?

I do! But I wear it so that there is no "gap" between the boot and the skirt
