I'm a huge Ann fan, even after her departure. I always find myself craving most of the looks in both the men's and women's collections even if I don't like the collection as a whole (except for her goodbye collection which was a trainwreck).
But I'm having a hard time with this. It's Spring 2013 gone wrong(er). The first three looks are classic Ann yet recycled to death and from there it feels less Byronic/poetic and more punk pirate. It's if Westwood was designing for Demeulemeester, it's more chaotic. Some other pieces look straight out of Sarah Burton' McQueen or Haider Ackermann. Nothing feels fresh. The printed tank tops are hideous. Even the tops and blouses which are always my favourite pieces look unflattering. And yes, I'm trying to ignore those headscarves and fox tails altogether.
I think he is trying to play a bit with the brand's DNA, recycling the past 7/8 years and adding a few twists but I'm not sure it is working. Ann's last 2/3 years were probably my least favourite and that is the only Ann I see in his ideas. I mean he could experiment with Ann's goth warriors with lots of leather or even those amazingly simple early days of exquisite basics (I would adore him if he did that) and still look modern.
I love this!!! Beautiful collection. I really need this.
Not bad but it's definitely my least favorite menswear collection from him so far. Especially after that stellar S/S 2019 show.
I get the need to change from the romantic-poetics-running-through-the-forest look he's been pushing - but the execution is a little sloppy.
