Anna Sui loves resort. It enables her to focus on the “crowd-pleasers,” as she put it, all the items her girl loves and wants to wear now. This season, Sui interpreted her fantasy of a country house with a rose garden — also full of carnations, poppies, clover, orchids, birds, bugs, serpents and more — which she digitally printed onto chiffon and georgette kimonos and caftans, beaded smock dresses and palazzo pants, all fit for a garden party.
“It’s all so easy to wear, but there are always little touches,” Sui said of her prairie and peasant dresses and tops, some decked out with appliqués and embroidery. The coolest looks were a little darker in tone and — when styled under one of her sporty ski jackets — vaguely grungy.
