Not only it is a very special Gala because of McQueen's death and all, but also Karl's latest collection wasn't very Anna.

McQueen's death happened before last year's Met gala, I'm not sure of the relevance this year. Unless it's a tribute to Sarah Burton's work and British Royal Wedding Pride.

^^ Oh, I just meant that this year's Gala is dedicated to a designer who died very recently and who was very close to Anna. The 'theme' of the exposition in past editions was, we could say, superfluous (american fashion, model as muse, superhero, poiret... and so on)
That's the only reason why I think Anna could opt for something different than her classic Chanel. She did wear Dior many years ago, but she hasn't attended an important event without wearing Chanel HC in seasons. From state dinners, to weddings, it's all been chanel, chanel, chanel.
