Antonin Tron - Designer, Creative Director of Balmain

What a surprise!
Not what I expected but good nevertheless.
His work has always lacked in sharpness to me but he will be able to elevate that with Balmain’s atelier.

I'm not sold on it, sorry. I give him two years before brand balance turns so negative that they would need to either heavily scale down the business and only do lookbooks, file for bankruptcy or be acquired by another firm.
If I were him, I would ditch the Isabel Marant x The Attico x Acne Studio aesthetic Olivier has been pushing for the last two seasons cause it does not feel authentic at all.

Nice appointment.

An appointment that I actually wouldn’t mind a shirtless pic from.
Just like the ceo on his ig :) i think the ceo choose for the looks of this CD instead of looking at the clothes lol

They will try to be the new ALAIA mark my words, but it will look even cheaper, his own brand is influencer level gear khait skims level.

Again a modern empty CD at another old house, everyone liking this you deserve these types of directionless CD´s enjoy.

from bad to bad these appointments we should call them all one by one last 3 years.

I forgot Atlein existed after the pandemic, but hopefully MAS does not work with him. I still remember when he and Alexis Martial decided they were Nicolas alumni.

I am trying to see exactly where they want to take Balmain based on his designs at Atlein and I have no idea. I am curious of when did Olivier know he was out and that Tron was going to take over ?

I’ve known him from his graduation collection at Antwerp when I saw the show. Never knew he did Atlein. Back then he was one of the best in his class

Stream lined stretchy stuff easy to make sexy modern anything that is ig cool or viral now, with no soul or unique point of view like current ALAIA.

Just make it look modern and sexy and ( fake ) expensive looking and easy to understand for every plep with money to shop with us.
the ceo´s pinterest gives you already the taste level :

This makes me sad !

I was browsing the Atlein website and I like what I see, although the men's collections will be a big challenge where they'll have to surprise.

For those curious about the sort of clothes he makes, here are a few looks from his latest collection, FW'25:

It's a very cliche "Saint Laurent meets Alaia" look, but it seems to mesh well with his clientele. That said, I have a weird feeling that his Balmain will probably lean more into some form of a "jolie madame" archetype with a few nods to Gres and Vionnet.
