Gosh these looks are abysmal. For those curious about the sort of clothes he makes, here are a few looks from his latest collection, FW'25:

It's a very cliche "Saint Laurent meets Alaia" look, but it seems to mesh well with his clientele. That said, I have a weird feeling that his Balmain will probably lean more into some form of a "jolie madame" archetype with a few nods to Gres and Vionnet.
yes the world needs another one lolI think he will pull a Vaccarello/YSL vibe.
Ah I had this look on my moodboard back in the day for inspiration for some stage costumes for my music performances ! If he goes more this, then I can accept it a bit better.I remember his menswear graduate collection being pretty amazing. This coat is very Balmain-coded.

Listen, it could be worse. We could've had another Philo/The Row fetishist making everything grey and oversized.yes the world needs another one lol
Preach ! I just want someone to do glamour. Not Elie Saab glamour.Listen, it could be worse. We could've had another Philo/The Row fetishist making everything grey and oversized.
Maybe Olivier will take a long deserved and needed sabbatical to get in touch with what makes him happy in fashion and life in general. I feel he lost his way. This is actually exciting. His work at Atlein is very beautiful, I am excited to see how he interprets and builds upon the Balmain history and even sharing his interpretation of the things that Olivier did during his time at the house.
Now I am wondering where Olivier will pop up now, or if he will take time off.
