^i would suggest de witte lelie....its the best hotel in antwerpen,imo,if you like something more unassuming and private....but is 282€ a night. a bit steep perhaps but well worth it nonetheless. very intimate and very antwerpen.

i like the duplex room ! less than 200€ a night !
the suite présidentielle is, of course, amazing ! really looks like a parisian appartement ! but 500€ a night ....

now i haven't experienced the hotel personally as when i was there i rented a studio flat as i was staying there for over a month. but i have a friend here in the states visit and a few of my friends in antwerp all say it's by far the best hotel in antwerp.

i wasn't able to make the most recent stock sales but i am planning for October...definitely wanting to spend a few days in Antwerpen and re-connect with the city.

how far in advance of the sales are the dates published?
i've had a look back through the thread and it seems that the dates are on here at the start of the month, for sales at the end of the month? guess it will still leave enough time to book a Eurostar ticket & hotel...

^MoMu on Nationalestraat. it's the fashion & costume museum that adjoined with the FFI department above....known wholly as the 'modenatie'.

there's actually a splendid outdoor café just down the street from the museum,just across the way from the cathedral.

i don't know how you feel about vegetarian cuisine but there's a great little bistro on lombardenvest called lombardia. it's frequented by many of the designers and i lived at this place when i did eat out. had the best veggie soup and frothy ginger drink(it was winter,for me)..

Actually, from this year on the stocksale of Demeulemeester and Ackermann is no longer at the populierenlaan (the private home of Ann!) but in an industry parc nearby: Oudebaan 55, Wilrijk, Antwerp.

I know because I was at Anns house when an assistent arrived and gave us the directions to go there

Regarding the sales: The mens selection of ann was tiny, and mostly big sizes; RA13 was chaos because mens and womens was mixed, as well as all the designers; Bruno pieters had lots more items then usual, because he wants to get rid of his archive (He came in just when I was there, and he'll be re-starting his label soon, in an ecological way). Prices were lower as the previous time also

How do you people actually travel to Antwerp for the sales? There don't seem to be any flights to Antwerp itself, so do you fly to Brussels and take the train from there? I would really love to go this year (in April) because it sounds like the designer stock sales and the shopping in general are awesome in Antwerp. B)

Also, to those who have been to the Ann D./Haider Ackermann sale: Is there lots of stuff in small sizes, mainly of the Ackermann pieces? I have a store close to me that sells Haider Ackermann womenswear but I don't think I've ever seen anything in FR32-36 and most of the stock that's online on Antonioli and LVR is FR38 and upwards so I'm not sure if the smaller sizes are somwhat of a rarity with HA? I'd be bummed if I travelled so far and ended up not getting anything because everything's huge on me.
