Are Mj Bags Passe?

i own a hobo. i like it. but the zipper is really heavy .. and the pushlock on it is pretty bulky....but i DO have to complain about the leather....it's lovely + soft, but i rarely use my bag if i even THINK it might rain because, yeah, i have the 'geranium' color, and it turned purple when the rain hits it.....it DID dry back to the regular color......but...it still worries me.

i got it on sale.....but, i'm still kinda wondering if i should've spent the money at all....since i'm so afraid to use it 3/4ths of the year...

Walmart has a knockoff Stella for 5 bucks or so...... :ninja: :ninja:

I have the Quinn style in ocean blue. It's small but I love it. I wouldn't carry a Stella b/c I see those knocked off too often.

Twista's "Overnight Celebrity" lyrics:

"You got such a sensational ***, Im'a get you Jimmy Choo and Mark Jacobs bags"

I tend to shy away from things sung in hit songs.
Although, I'll always love my Choo's

I think Marc's bags are allowed to be "so/so". His shoes MORE than make up for it. ;)

then you'll be shying away from a lot rappers drop almost every label they can...and some say the companies pay them to do it... :innocent:

I have an original clutch in plum (with the brass buckle), a Sophia in buttercream, a Stella in dark gray, and a teal & purple suede double handle with lizard trim that I got from Ebay. I only use the Stella when I'm traveling...it makes a great carryon bag. The Sophia I use alot, but you don't see alot of them in San Francisco. I use the suede one when it isn't rainy season. I'm thinking about getting one of the FW styles, possibly the Kate:

or this hobo in bordeaux:

I wish they weren't so all over the place...I love his bags.

I have 2 MJ bags and love them. The colors are gorgeous and the leather is nice. As much as the bags are copied, I still love mine.

I agree that most of his bags are quite plain, but that's almost what I like about them -- just a regular leather bag without the bells and whistles. Plus the bag seems like it's very well-made, and they're available in some great colours. I'm particularly fond of the Blake bag in hunter green. I think it's very nice, practical every day bag.

I have been holding myself back from posting on this topic because once I read it I realized that I wasn't quiet sure what I thought. I have always been an avid fan of collector, and knee-jerk defender of MJ bags, but in the last few months my love has dwindled. I do not think they are passe, but they have sure lost a lot of the chicness that they once had. The fact that you see them everywhere is irritating, and the fakes take away from what they once were as well. I would still recommend that someone purchase one if they want a long-lasting, high-quality, attractive everyday bag. It is the kind of thing that someone who only buys a bag once a year, or even less, could really get a lot of use of because it is so basic. But for real bag enthusiasts, its ship may have sailed.
