Australian Street Style

IMO one thing sums up Australian street style right now...

Footless tights. At uni today, everywhere I went I could count at least five girls wearing them. I even saw a boy wearing them with black shorts

that's seriously wrong. even if he was hot.

Yes I've seen a lot Australian kids wear tights, you know the kind that were 'hot, fluro and awful prints' tights.

Indeed, I see them more and more every day. But I wonder what else that guy wore with the tights? While it would look wrong on most guys, I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing..


On a side note, I can't believe it's getting so hot already. It's going to be a stinking hot summer...

i can't wait till were right in the middle of it all..problem is my house doesn't have a central cooling system....so i cook at night epecially when i'm tryign to sleep but i still love beach weather

Its already too hot, Im limited to single striking pieces everyday and my wardrobe is really only so big..argh, bring back the winter, I need my vest and jackets and scarves and stuff...

yeah tights are everywhere, cant say I actually hate them, but I definetely do NOT love them either.

to those of you in aussie unis esp sydney, does your student publications have a fashion page? or used to have one?

i agree re- 3/4 tights
i went out in country vic about a month ago and every girl was wearing a dress with those leather wrap belts which become thin at the end with 3/4 tights

also, i think tall poppy syndrome is very much a part of dressing in aust
for example, im a twin and my sis always always has to look her best - be well groomed when she leaves the house (compared to me who lives in trackies). she takes so much pride in her appearance and she looks great but our friends often complain to me that she overdresses, implying that its inappropriate

this really annoys me - she can dress how she wants - she's expressing herself - let her be!!!

Not at Sydney Uni, I've never seen anything concerning fashion in a student publication here, unless it's an article about fur or something

I've seen some girls lately with there pony tails right on top of there head with neon hair ties. terribly 80's
I also notice the majority of teenage girls i see in the city look like veronicas.
