what's your opinion on petar petrov(http://www.petarpetrov.com/index2.html) scott, as I hold your opinion in high regard on these forums...

Oh, must mention, I was looking through the Fabrics Interseason site (http://www.fabrics.at/) the other day, I really like the design concept, but it just doesn't look too wearable...what's the general view on that?

Oh,well,that's really sweet,Jhamie

Well,it's okay I suppose. Perhaps a tad too post-modern for my liking....but he's a great tailor and it's got a quirkiness one doesn't see much in menswear. It actually strikes me as a combination of Willhelm and Stephen Schneider in a way.

As Fabrics,I've seen some of their singular pieces in editorials and such, and you'd probably be surprised at how functional(and I use that term loosely)they can be...it's very estoteric but they're not so garish you couldn't ever wear them. But like Petar and most Austrian designers,it's quite in that niche of "post-modern".

I think post-modern is an exellent way to descibe these designers.:flower:

^Well,I think Claudia and Hartmann are probably the only two who don't fit that description. And Eva Blut is probably my favourite of the whole thing, the way she re-interprets classical menswear;transforming them into something that conjures imagery of the Alps. This season, she used ties and men's shirting and designed these lovely circle skirts.

yea, I understand where you're coming from there scott with the post-modernism...

I do agree with you. However, I don't think with one of some by petar has the same direction as some of designers you mentioned. A lot of the designers on the schedule seem to be very conceptually influenced...wheres with petar petrov, you know what you're getting...which is a very well made, very comfortable sweatshirt or pair of pants...I admit it's nothing special...but it's dependable..and if you like a brand...that consistency is an important attribute...

I think this is going to be an interesting show...looking forward to the outcome..

thanks for the update scott, love their whole line up.. real cool

my fave is also Eva Blut ;)

hi, thanks for posting, scott.
seems very interesting.my absolut favorite is claudia rosa lukas., just found her work.
It is very different to the others. Don't think her work is post-modern.

I like some of her knit female tops for AW 2005|06 ... but I think the male line is terrible...lacks any sort of design. Far to plain.

Glad you all like Claudia! No,she isn't post-modern at all. She and I have actually been in correspondence for a couple years since I discovered her work....supposed to visit her in Paris this season. As for her men's stuff...right now I think it was just an initial intro into doing something for men as there weren't but,I think, three looks if I remember correctly. The graphics are great though.

Jhamie,I do agree with you. I just mean his aesthetic is kind of in that vein as some of the others.

You're welcome Lena and Dale! I so wish I could be in Europe at this moment. Everything interesting is going on.
