FIRST it was Gemma, Miranda and Catherine. Now three up-and-coming Brisbane models hope to continue the Australian invasion after setting off for a three-month stay in the world's fashion capital, Paris.
Brisbane school-leavers Hannah Glasby, Avril Alexander and Emma Ishta were recently hand-picked by an international scout to strut their stuff at the upcoming Paris Fashion Week, which draws the best models and designers from all over the world.
It is the opportunity of a lifetime for the local trio, who hope to follow the high-fashion trail already blazed by Aussie supermodels Gemma Ward, Miranda Kerr and Catherine McNeil.
"Those girls have already shown that it can be done and that the world is taking notice of Aussie girls," said Glasby, who graduated from Runcorn State High School last year.
"I think the fashion industry is trying to phase out the super, super skinny look that a lot of the Russian models have and there is a trend now towards the healthier-looking girls.
"And Australian girls really have that look – that healthy, tanned, fit, beachy look."
A scout from international agency IMG, which also represents Ward, talent-spotted the girls while on a recent trip to the Queensland office of Vivien's Model Management.
