Baby Spears gets hurt/ Child welfare investigates

I think everyone is losing sight of the fact that this was an unfortunate accident. There are no accusations of neglect, the nanny was trying to put him in the high chair, the high chair malfunctioned, he fell. Anyone who has ever been around a baby knows how extremely easily this can happen. Babies fall all the time, they squirm, they throw themselves around, they're restless.

Exactly, she's a first time mother, and lets face it, there's no book that tells you how to parent.

Actually there are quite a few ;) (Dr Spock was the one my mother read back in the day.) But this does seem like a case of an unfortunately accident that was properly followed up on, if a dr made a house call that same day (must be nice not to have to sit in emergency for 9 hours like the rest of the world ;))

thats a shame.

forgive me my ignorance, but i didnt even know infants could facture their skulls since they arent fully formed yet.

^^ yes its so easy for them to fracture them as its soft bone .. and they have that little hole on the back of their heads ... thats why you have to constantly suport their heads they are so soft.

jackie1,

it is traditionally the role of mothers to take care of the children and fathers the breadwinner. i understand when you said that taking care of the kids is the responsibility of the fathers too but i guess it takes a long way before we can comfortably 'blame' both parents when something happens to the child.

in britney's case, since k-fed is not working, i agree completely that he should keep an eye on SPF but we all know he's good for nothing. he's probably smoking pot and getting high with his friends when SPF fell off that chair. ugh, i can't wait for britney to dump that lazy ***.

what i don't understand is why was SPF's injury only discovered days later?!

That used to be the case but not as much anymore nowadays, I know a lot of women who outearn their husbands by far and who are the breadwinners. I just find it really offensive that people expect it to be mainly the woman to take care of the children. It really irks me and makes me not ever want to have kids (I'm 28 btw). It's not the only reason why I don't want to have kids, but it does bug me a lot and probably plays a part in my decision.

^ I don't want to have kids either but I'm not going to go into the reasons since they have nothing to do with this thread.

While I'm not a fan of Britney's, I sympathise with her. Accidents happen. To be fair, the K-Fed was quizzed as well. I'm sure Britney must be feeling really guilty and upset and having it all over the media just makes it so much worse.

Baby probe clears Britney

BRITNEY SPEARS is in the clear following a probe into how her baby son broke his skull. Social service investigators were automatically called after the singer took SEAN PRESTON to hospital with the injury.
But after quizzing Britney and hubby KEVIN SPENDERLINE, authorities ruled it was an accident.
Britney’s lawyer Marty Singer said: “They determined that the parents were not involved in any injury and that nothing improper was done within the home.”
Doctors say the seven-month-old is lucky to be alive after plunging three feet on to his head when his high chair snapped on April 1. He was being looked after by his nanny at the star’s home in Malibu.
Asked how the baby was yesterday, Kevin said: “He’s doing fine.”
Britney is now considering hiring a medically-trained childminder.

jackie1, just one last comment cos this is off topic. Yes, i agree that we're progressing so that is good news to us women for having to bear with snide comments whenever there's something wrong with the kid for so long. same with men (e.g. k-fed) who let their wives be the breadwinner, they have to content with remarks like good for nothing. while if women choose to stay at home to be housewives it's not frowned upon.

so the nanny was there when SPF fell? if the injury is only discovered days alter, does that mean the nanny didn't tell britney that her son fell?

^ From this:
"According to the official complaint seen by the Mirror Sean fell from his high-chair, banging his head hard on the floor, while eating at the family home on April 1. Sean's nanny is believed to have been in the room. It is unclear where Britney and Kevin were."

it appears so although I'm not certain.

But how can you write a book on how to bring up a child?
No child is the same, nor the background in which they are raised, therefore you can't generalise with books.

According to statement relised they phoned the doctor who said to just watch over baby, best to keep him at home, ... then a few days later when he took a turn for the worse they took himto a + e
