So I'm no good with writing reviews so I'll leave that up to somebody else (say Digi?).
But I want to share with you some of the pieces which stood out to me most in this collection.

In my opinion:

Actually, there's some outfits I dig.

Now that I look at it more carefully, I  it. I love the colors and the tailoring.

I do like this collection.....the "rubber legs" i think the clothing would be much better in person though.
everything is dark so it is hard to notice the details,
which are most likely to be divine :o
everytime i look at this collection i notice more- i like that.

Honestly, I really didn't expect that it'd become my first choice.

The cuts are beautiful and grab your attention though (especially that one leather coat with asymmetrical sides) and then these video warrior-like ensèmbles are just wonderfully prophetic and emotional.

It reminded me of Hussein.

i like it, it's modedrn and one of them reminds me of prada with the criss cross. he's got a personal style going, 'leftfield elegance' (vogue).

I think it was a great collection. I enjoyed how he obviously built on some of his past themes (collaging, draping, etc.) and updated them a bit. I always love designers like Nicolas (and Hussein) who bring about a sort of evolution in their collections.

[ot:a69704f21e]In other news, a friend and I managed to sneak into the Balenciaga opening party at the new store. Some star sightings: Richard Buckley, Grace Coddington, Anouck, Ann-Catherine, Liya, Joanna Priess, and Natalia.

The store, however, looks absolutely amazing and I urge all of you to stop by if you are in New York.

as for the rest, i'm not impressed. i find that most of the coats have unflattering tailoring and 'stange' (for lack of a better word) prints. i do like most of the pics astrid posted but those are basic outfits, any designer could have done them (and most of them do in a winter collection).

I'm all about seeing a designer do some original. They might resemble, but they do not match anything Ghesquière does. With this collection, he is up there w/Hussein, Helmut Lang, Yohji, Rei Kawakubo, and Junya Watanabe. To me at least. I honestly don't think another designer has that vision. IMO, of course.

 it's all good :D

(at least we found some outfits we won't be stealing from each other's closet  )

I really want those two jackets. The last two on the right. 8)
