Balenciaga F/W 07.08 Paris

I really dislike this collection - it's not definitive enough.

Also, if you saw someone walking down the street wearing this :

would you think they looked chic? Would you think Balenciaga? Or would you think Polo Ralph Lauren?

Im really suprised at the negative response to this collection. I actually love it alot, it reminds a bit if the s/s 02 collection which was one of my favorites, ilove the mixing of folklore with futuristic embellishments, I think all t he coats are really strong, and the prints and colors are phenomeonal, love the dress on Irina the best.

I agree it is much more sporty then his previous recent collections. SS2007, SS2006 and FW 2006 come to mind.

I think I am going to venture to say that I like it. I can't place a definitve reason why. I think I am drawn to the colors. Not in a boho way. I just keep thinking American Indian, Apacalypto, etc. and I am drawn to it. I like the bulky scarves, but more of a solid color less fringe verson for reality.

I like it. Not pretentious for a change. The Nicholas touch is still there though, and I am surprised that all of you zealous Balenciaga fans (which I am not) don't notice it. There is still geometry, architecture and futurism, albeit buried in an eclectic collection of colors, patterns and ethnic motifs. It doesn't have to look like a TeleTubbie (sp?) outfit in order to be 'futuristic'. I actually like this better than the past collections - it's more subtle and sophisticated.

Im not liking F/W as a whole to be honest, this didnt have the same effect on me as previous seasons, but I dont hate it, neither do I think its bad because I do actually like some of the clothes, Its as already stated, very similar to Ghesquires previous seasons, although again as said, not very Balenciaga, but I do think I like some of it, but there are some pieces I dont really like at all.

After seeing it all, it is definately my favorite collection for Fall/Winter so far. The pants, the blazers, and the patchwork dresses are the best parts.

But I do wonder if it's going to be in quite as many magazines as, say, the C-3PO leggings or absolutely every piece from last fall.

Hmm interesting thinking...I don't think these items will be as coveted by market editors this time around, but i do think it will be more prevelant in editorials featuring wearable pieces...only time will tell..

I love the blazers and some of the dresses. I like the fur lined parka too but I am not digging the cinched waist coats and jackets ...eww! I can see some Ralph lauren here and also some Kenzo but there's definitely some NG for Balenciaga signatures here. Personally, I find this a lot more wearable than the stuff he did for winter 06 and also for Spring 07.

i fell in love with balenciaga in the ss06 show, just amazing!! but ever since then its just been OK to me ...and now this ...just ehhh- anyone else feel the same way ?

this styling is killing me, its way too busy and gimmicky for balenciaga.

also, i think much of the collection is a backdrop for the coats/jackets...which are very beautiful and strong as pieces, and i think is the area balenciaga makes most of their money off of...bringing the bacon to daddy gucci group.

that being said, there are numerous pieces that i dislike in this collection, but in the pre-fall collection, which had a similar feel but style differently, the clothes look awesome and i really enjoyed it.
