Balenciaga F/W 2008.09 Paris

What an amazing collection! The construction of the clothes looks impeccable. And some of it actually looks practical.
I'm also glad that he reinterpreted the spring collection into something more pragmatic. I think....

This looks amazing  Very balenciaga yet very wearable (as opposed to the SS collection, which looks amazing in eds but I can't imagine anyone wearing it). Ghesquiere rarely disappoints

i don't get the whole "stealing from alber" thing...
if anything, he's borrowing from himself...

the sleeve detail and rounded shoulder shape started in fall 03 and sprang up again in fall 06...

the twist tops are a variation on s/s 03...as are the scuba pants...

the middle section of dresses is a reinterpretation of spring in a more wearable form...
i think it's strong and sexy...just like nicolas' ideal woman...
i love the mix of hard and soft...
the jewelry is incredible!

The shoes are weird, but I love the jewellery, it's beautiful!

I usually get really annoyed by the hype always surrounding Balenciaga, but this is the best collection this season. Just gorgeous. The textures, the colors, the metallics, the polyester/shiny leather, the cuts, the prints. Very clean, but very interesting. I wouldn't necessarily say "minimalist". He stayed true to his futuristic manner, which is fantastic. Finally something good. Still recovering from the Dior nightmare....

This is very good, some pieces are ugly, but some are gorgeous. the knee high boots are insanely hot.

Those round shoulders are popularized by Cristobal Balenciaga himself, so I suppose Ghesquiere is just looking through the archives.

yes, exactly...
that's why i'm wondering where the stealing from alber's rounded shoulder reference came from...
really it's nicolas referencing his own work and cristobal's work...

i'ts taking me forever to state what i think about this collection. beautiful is the only word that comes to mind right now. that and kate blanchet!

when I was replying I knew you would know, too :flower:
it's so unfair to label him without knowing his history:ninja:

I like the draped tops^_^

I can't stand those pants with the strip of white running down the side. This is Balenciaga, not Adidas.. I also really don't like the patent leather coats, the structure is interesting, but it makes the person wearing them look like shiny robots with bad posture.

I feel like this is a hybrid of at least 3 of his previous collections.
