Balenciaga Prefall 2007 Collection

some of it i hate..after last season i was so disappointed at the direction
but some of this looks like it's going back to naval influenced roots (if that makes sense)
*fingers crossed*

I just wonder how long can you push re-visiting your past collections and getting all the raves?

That's a popular thing these days, "oh let me remind my customer what i've done in the past ten, five years and put a collection together with all that"

But why is that a bad thing? I go to balenciaga for my 'slick' more masculine.. like a female version of Dior.. I like it when it simple and paired down I can rely on him to go for that. I hate when he does frilly stuff I have not liked the last two seasons but I loved Nicolas earlier work.. that's what made me fell in love with balenciaga.

If wanted frou-frou I would go to McQueen. I'm really excited to see that Nicolas is hopefully going back to where he was! :woot:

wth is that? this has no sense! a bit of this season of another season and hop a new season... well hopefully the collection will be better and more coherent!

honestly, what was he thinking? i just hope that fw07 will turn out better than this...

^ i don't. let the rtw die and the label can become a handbag line. he does cristobal's legacy no justice at all.

^you're right about that. seems the only thing it's become now is a label of trendy "it" bags and nothing really about the clothes anymore...

^ Why does balenciaga sell out the clothes like *that* then if it's just about the handbags?

^ & ^^ Imo, (I feel anyway) - that the clothes made me like the brand, it had nothing to do with the bags, and I think the past few seasons have been very strong, although, Im not too convinced on the latest, but still, I dont think its that bad.

well,if you look at all the hype,it's always an emphasis on the accessories...hardly ever about the clothes.

and no,i don't see why this is so bad. like i said before,i like it. surprisingly,so. ale,you mentioned this in comparison with MK and RL....personally neither one of them have the same precision as Nicolas does and he's also alot more experimental....even here. so i don't think that's a very logical comparison,to be honest.

it's allright i suppose. but... i thought balenciaga was closing? am i behind on something i should know?

Those hats!^_^

This pre-fall seems to lack Balenciaga's usual edge, it seems quite sloppy.

I like this... its's got me very much looking forward to the 07show too.

The assymetrical dress is just gorgeous!

I agree. I miss the naval coats! Unlike a lot of people, I wasn't exactly wetting myself over the riding hats, short skirts, and metal leggings of the past two seasons. I prefer the military coats and sharp pants of his past collections. And what's wrong with revisiting what you've done before? Designers like RL do the same style of clothing year after year and it works fine. People complain if a designer doesn't have a specific style or signature, but complain again if they do. I dunno, it's such a double-edged sword, but I can only respond to what I like, and I like this. And I don't think the signifigance of Ghesquiere's work is handbags and nothing else. I fell in love with his work before I even knew about the bags.

Didn't like! Last collection was much better. But, anyhow, it's rally hard to find one how strikes every season or so.

Sergio Lessa

It is only a pre-collection and sprinkled with items and separates. It is not very cohesive and pulling in many different directions. "Trekker or Voyage" chic is as close as I can get. Certainly someone searching for more commercial ground after having been nailed to the cross for the last collection. Not an easy job, but chalk one up for experience. Let's see what surprises he comes up with for the runway...
