yes, the leather is absolutely gorgeous! much better than the bloomsbury line a few years back, which also had a pocket hobo bag similar to that one. i think this seasons is much much better because of the washed leather they used.
 
I'm really loving washed leather at the moment, and I think they've really hit the nail on the head in using it on their designs. It's so soft and slouchy and understated, it's perfect for their range this season. :heart:

It took me great restraint to not buy that 4-pocket hobo the other day after you posted those codes, June, especially since I now have a friend's US address to use for US-only online shopping stores. Great restraint.. I ended up putting my credit card in the freezer behind the centuries-old unopened packet of frozen peas so that I'd have to risk all kinds of deadly freeze burns and frostbites to access it's plastic glory! :angel:

Perhaps once all this land finance stuff is settled, and I've done more ebaying.. perhaps then, if it's still there and if I can find a code or three.. :evil:
 
I saw the Bedford hobo the other day and at first didn't recognize it as a BR bag! I did a double take because I thought at first glance it was a Coach bag! It was really pretty! I'd like to get the hobo in chalk. Has anyone else purchased one of their new bags yet? (there's a coupon right now, I think it's springgift plus free shipping!)
 
i got the pocket shoulder bag....but ( and with me, since im a perfectionist there always must be a "but") i ended up sending it back.....for the strangest reason too. the design: lovely! the leather: beautifully distressed! the size: absolutely perfect!

but the bag smelt like nori from SUSHI! :shock:

seriously...it was factory sealed when i got it. i even took pics of it with my other bags....but i decided to air it out for a few days, hoping the smell would go away....and it didn't. i carried it around to see maybe that'd help. NOPE. the smell would not go away. i had no choice but to return it to it's maker.....im a bit sad now because it's about the size and shape i had been looking for....oh well...now i get to shop again:p
 
I returned the 4 pocket hobo and the tote that looks like the MJ Teri tote myself. I guess I'm not a 'distressed' leather girl! But I like the conservative look of the Bedford hobo. I think I'll have to try out the chalk! I could use a white bag for summer!

The stupid manufacturers put the bags in the plastic when the leather was still wet so some of them do smell pretty awful. (The Ashbury ones). They were supposed to correct the issue, so maybe if you go into the store you can exchange the one you ordered, we were supposed to remove them from the plastic to let them dry. I can't believe they sent you one of the stinky ones though!!! ick.
 
Well, I received the Bedford Hobo in chalk! I used a coupon so got it a bit cheaper and free shipping. I think it's a great bag! I carried it yesterday and today. It's a super comfortable bag to carry on the shoulder and has tons of room inside with great pockets and a very nice lining. The leather is fabulous too! Nice and thick yet still soft and slouchy. I recommend it, it's overall a fantastic bag!

I'm not sure if I'm going to take advantage of it or not but I'm eyeing some of the bags. :flower:
 
I saw the Bedford bag in yellow last week in the store and I loved it :heart:

It's sold out online, so I may go back to the store this weekend and buy it.
 
According to the latest internal Gap magazine, Banana Republic is coming to London late 07/early 08

ooh that would be great. But i'd be interested to know what the pricing is like. I find banana republic at the moment slighty over priced for what it is and that compounded with import duty fees....i don't know. Some stuff at Gap is cheaper in the UK than in Canada and some stuff is more expensive. We'll see how they adapt it. I definately don't think there is anyone out there similar to BR in London.
 
BR is overpriced, I shop there only during the final sales. It pays off to shop there if you have their card because most of times you have either 15-20% off or $10 off etc.

Their quality has decreased over the years in my opinion. Their sweaters are not too good, but their shirts are OK, especially the fitted ones. They have nice linen stuff for the summer and the quality is OK. I bought a leather jacket last year and have been wearing it frequently and it still looks the same. I wish I had bought one more in different colour. Their pants are horrible, they don't fit me at all.

In general, most of people shop there only during the final sales. Since their final sales start on a fixed date (I think May 24th/25th for spring) I have seen a lot of people buying stuff a week before and then price matching it when the sales start.
 
I love the 4 pocket hobo. A friend purchased it and I couldn't believe how nice the leather was! Seriously! When did BR start making such nice handbags?
