HOGAN’S HEROES: Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to make filmmaking look a breeze. To mark his collaboration with Italian brand Hogan on a one-off capsule collection, the peripatetic designer directed a short film in the “nouvelle vague” style, rich in dramatic tension and velvety, black-and-white imagery. “I did it in one afternoon,” said Lagerfeld. “Even silent movies were done in a very short amount of time.” To be unveiled Saturday night in Paris, and on the Web sites of Hogan and Lagerfeld, the five-minute clip depicts models Baptiste Giabiconi and Magdalena Frackowiak as a couple with trust issues.

Sebastien Jondeau, also known as Lagerfeld’s bodyguard and personal secretary, portrays a postman who delivers a mysterious and fateful letter. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert and Lagerfeld also make cameos. The designer shot the clip in various locales in Paris, including the Palais de Tokyo and the Rue des Saints-Pères, his camera subtly lingering on the co-branded Lagerfeld/Hogan footwear, handbags and trench coats. Giabiconi shows of his acting chops, while Lagerfeld delivers a great zinger off camera. Lagerfeld described the film as depicting a “very French moment,” but viewed with an Italian slant – and his quick, roving camera.
