Best Self-Tanners

I tend to stay away from self-tanners because they always turn out some strange orange  color on my skin kind of like the picture below.

im debating between st. tropez and california north..i'm really lost though I'm not sure which to get!!!

hi i wrote i whileback asking fro adicein which self tanner to buy, well i bought flash brozer from lancome and i love it.

i had never used a self tan so i followed the steps u mantioned( exfoliate and moisturize) and perfect not streack nor bloches or marks. So loads of thanks for the advice!!!!

I have a question it may be stupid but i am new to this and dont' want to look weird. Ok here is the question: i used the self tanner a couple days ago and i want to reuse it to have more color, but i was wondering if i should exfoliate again or if that will take the color i already have away?so should i just moisturize?

please please answer

thanks in advance

ok I swear by self tanners. I hate being pale (Im not too pale but not really olive skinned either) and have tried to embrace my natural colour but there is no use. I love looking tanned.

So here is my verdict

St tropez is amazing. I can apply it and know where it is by the colour it puts on (is a foam and not a clear gel)
Dior Bronze is really amazing on my legs and arms (not as good as St Tropez but much better than others)

ok my one problem is my st tropez washes of when I shower! Does this happen to anyone else!? And how can I prevent that!???

Is there such a product?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help out- I have tried using self-tanners before and really couldn't get it right, I hated the orangey look it gave me, the streaks etc. I want something for my legs really cos they are sooo white, is it possible to get a tinted moisturizer for the body, something that just gives a little bit of natural colour and can just be applied the day i wanna show my legs and can be washed off straight away? This would be ideal, I'm not sure if this is what a bronzer actually does? But i don't particularly want to use a powder. Thanks! Also, I am in Australia so something that's available here.

wowandflutter- I use a lot of these weird thingies for my legs andI wuold reccomend the Sally Hensen AIrbrush Leg Spray it comes in ligh, medium , and dark. my legs look sOOo flawless

Airstocking- is a japanisehe brand its also likwe a spray comes again in ligh, medium toca color i dont remmeber. this is a lot more expnsive than Sally Hensen, but again my legs look flawless

Scott Barnes Body Bling- gives a shiny tanned sparkly sheen, its gorgeoous its more espnive than the 2 above =P but it works wonder. the stars uses this. its not a spray but more like a lotion creamy type.

all 3 of these can be washed off right away =) its like foundation for legs

life is- if ou want to reapply i guess moisturuzing it again would help mroe than exfoliating cause if you exfoliate..it might rubb the old color off causing streaks? btu moisturzing it is differnt..i dont know ...i guess you can try both and see which one works? try now donttry it when summer comes! LOLS!by summer you will know the answer so than you wont have to wait a week to not wear short shorts or skirts =P its still cold now so expeiremnt now!

I use Jergens Natural Glow and it doesnt wash off right away, but you can control the color which is what i like about it most. It doesnt look orangey at all, just a pretty overall color. It's good to try, however i'm not sure if it's what youre looking for

I use the Jemma brand (you know the chick from Big Brother?) she has cookies and cream product that is just like a tanner but washes of with soap. It doesn't come off on your clothes either, its great. You can either get the cookies and cream seperately and make your own colour or you can buy it pre mixed, and its on'y about $20. You can get it at priceline!

hey thanks for the replies, I've heard lots of good things about the cookies and cream product, so maybe i'll give that one a go. :flower:

I've tried a lot of products...and without a natural (as in, from the sun) base tan, anything and everything I try makes an orange color on my skin. Even with actual sunlight, my skin has always gotten an orangish tan. I've pretty fair-skinned, so this could be why.

The past year or so I haven't been so concerned with having a tan. Until the PERFECT tanner comes along, I'm SOL. ;)

Jergens Natural Glow... is the best!!!!! i love it... its really hard to get streaks cause the color increases each day of aplication... so for the 1st day it will be really light... its amazing.. the best ive tried i think... but if you want a fast result i use L'oreal... but the gel... its really good also! plus they're inexpensive :flower:

^If you take a bath nightly, the Jergens Natural Glow doesn't wash off at all? If so, that's pretty cool. I need to try it.. ^_^

^ jergens nat. glow will fade when you take a bath/shower...but it still builds up even if u take a shower in between applications.

I have fair skin and I don't know if St. Tropez or california north will be orangey/too dark looking. A sephora beauty advisor online said it wouldn't...but I was wondering if anyone on here uses either and if they like it/if it's natural looking?

and PinkLipgloss- does cookies and cream come off w/ just water or do you need to scrub w/ soap? Like if water splashed on it, would it drip off?

Pink Lipgloss I use Johnsons Holiday Skin too, I'm very fair with red hair and i love it, its subtle but you can build it up and its a great moisturiser too.

Not tried the face one yet, but my friend mixes the normal cream with her usual moisturiser and uses that on her face, and she looks really good.

I've also used the Sally Hansen spray tan thing on my legs and it was perfect....but I made the mistake of doing it while standing on a blue carpet....and had to wash it afterwards because the heavy mist settled on the floor and left a brown stain......so do it standing on a towel!

i use lacome flash bronzer really good, or a cheaper alternative is almay's one works just aswell

i havent notice it wash off.... i put on that cream every day after i take a bath... in the night.. and each day i see my legs a bit darker...
i bought the "medium skin tone" or something like that instead of the light skin... im kind of pale but that works perfectly because it puts on color faster..
but no.. i wouldnt say it comes off with a bath.. you just have to apply it daily so the color gets darker! or it would just fade off :flower:
