Blackheads

There is a great implement which Sally Hansen makes which is new. It looks like a long thin small round pencil. It has 2 loops of metal on either end. You drag this thing over your nose and when you press down, the blackheads just pop right out. It is WONDERFUL and cheap too!

hay guys I have reallly annoying small(i think im not sure) blackheads you can't feel most of them above the skin but like but they're really evil!!! Neway I've tried steaming, exfoliating, gelatine and milk or something etc. I haven't tried the lemon everynight thing. But HELP they are evil and the only thing that REALLY bugs me about my skin!

plz help! im 14 and i know all that 'hormones' 'puberty' crap but seriously i need them gone!

they are only on my nose and are spreading a bit over the nose

I did the steaming and towel thing, it worked really good. But now my skin is all dry and I can peel it off <-- do you understnd what I mean?

Anyway, is it supposed to be that way or did I do something wrong? I think maybe I wasn't very gentle with the towel.

Do you mean your skin was dry and flaky? I've never done the steaming technique before, but perhaps you might try using a light moisturizer after you're done (but before your face has completely dried)..?

Along those lines, I actually have a related question myself. About every other day I use Jason Apricot Scrubble - it's like this facial scrub & mask (I use it as a scrub mostly) with rather fine exfoliating granuals. But after I use it, my skin becomes dry and feels somewhat 'tight'. It's better if I use some moisturizer afterwords, but I don't know if that undo's what the scrub does in terms of pore-refining and whatnot. Heh, sorry my question's not very clear -- what do you suggest I do to solve the dryness and tightness? I mainly use the scrub to get rid of blackheads and pimples. Thanks!

I know a lot of people have recommended squeezing the blackheads out, but I would certainly not advise that . This method will work only temporarily- you'll have to keep doing it over and over again. Squeezing forces any dirt or oil at the base of the pore further into it. When you think about it there is no way you can squeeze everything out- it’s just not physically possible because you are applying pressure downwards and inwards. It will also enlarge your pores because of the physical stress you are applying to the area. However, steaming is a great idea because it promotes circulation of fluids out of your pores- and along with water and salts, impurities and oil from blackheads are also carried to the surface. A clay mask, although it sometimes has a drying effect, also works in the same way. Exfoliation works really well too because it removes dead skin cells and promotes circulation in the affected area. A combination of these should hopefully help!

Yeah I tried that but it was just too dry, anyways I am wondering the same thing you are about moisturizer after exfoliating. Hope someone will answer. ^_^

prince- some salons have facials formulated just for men :ninja:

Yep thats what I was about to say. Research has shown that Men spend just as much money on beauty products as women now! Okay its not makeup as much, although tinted moisturiser is a big seller, facials, pedicures etc etc etc..

Its not girly at all, its just what makes you look good. Its like saying that sport is just for men...

I also have loads of blackheads on my nose!!!! i mean MILLIONS!!!! i maen im 13 yeah and i have a few sports on my forehead, not massive 1s!!! but the blackheads they are raelly annoying!! ive tried steaming that didnt work.but im not sure weather to use them pore strip things because i have combination skin, which is the worst!!!! Like when i get out of the bath,i will have dry skin in between my eyebrows and a bit on my forehead, and all over my nose and a bit round my top lip.Does anyone recommend what skincare porudcts i could use to treat this?? i read that you shouldnt use 1 product all over the face, but 2 ,1 too fight the dry skin, and another to fight the oily skin. And it feels really horrible with the dry skin!!! So can any1 recommend what i should use???? it would be really useful

Is that St Ives Apicot Scrub that bad?? I recently started using it, I brought the sensitive skin one. I have used it, and its been ok, made my skin smoother. I also used it on my brother because he has really bad spots on the sides of his head, and they have started to go. My normal face regime is, St Ives Scrub, cleanse, tone, use a face wipe to get rid of eye make-up, moisturise.

I have blackheads too, but mine wont go!!

This has always been a trouble issue for my skin as well. I have gone to the dermatologist for treatment and it really does help, mainly from the Renova (retin A type product, I guess) because it exfoliates off the skin and that's the key to keeping them at bay. I also use Clinique's exfoliating scrub a few times a week and then get facials periodically. The facials have really helped - I've got a facialist who is very good with extractions. Some say it shouldn't be done, but I've never had a problem in over a year.

At home, I think a big part is just getting that stuff out of your pores. I extract at home using a method that seems to work really well. I don't have a lot of luck with the strips in getting everything but they're very good.

ive got loads of blackheads 2,and a few normal spots pop up sometimes ,but everytime i buy like a wash or cleanser for my skin, everytime i wash it off my nose and around my mouth and some other areas go all dry,and it feels really tight.I brough this 1 mask from somewhere and its for t zone skin which i have (Combination) and its meant to clear blackheads, ive used it about twice and a few blackheads do go,but when i wash it off my face goes all tight and dry and really annoys me.the only thing i use now for my face is them oxy pads, which says its good for all teenage type skin.I put that on because thats the only thing that doesnt make my face dry and tight, but people say that they're no good.Should i go to my doctor and get some cremes off him?? Or does any1 know a good wash for me to use.

I started using the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque at night, followed by Neutrogena Blackhead eliminating treatment mask (salcylic acid and glycolic acid) in the morning, every 2 or 3 days, and the blackheads on my nose have cleared up a LOT. I think the key is to keep doing the treatments, or they come back.

i need help with my skin. i have a case of blackheads ALL OVER my face!...not just my nose! :( i use the Biore pore strips for my nose but i'm having trouble with the rest. i've been to the dermatologist, and she gave me 15% glycolic acid to use as a moisturiser at night, antibiotics/the pill doesn't work and i've used every product on the shelves (cheap and expensive).... but nothing seems to work... recommendations from anyone who's experiencing the same problem pretty please?

vix123 can't you just do the strip thing on the rest of the face too? or does that not work?

One exfoliator that i've started using recently is from Witch, its cheap and has worked really really well with my skin! Also i know it's a cliche but i've just started doing the whole drink loads of water thing and thats also made a massive difference!
