Blake Lively (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

The dress is horrible. The red is not that bad on her but I agree she should go for a darker red or lose the tan. I'm curious how her hair looks in candids!

I hope we see some candids soon... I think I can decide then if I like it or not...At the moment I'm totally unsure ... :-/

I love her hair and i'm sure what i wish to see her new candids :D

Blake Lively being named one of the most influential people is a total joke, lmfao. No. Just no. I can't.

I love the hair, it is such an improvement and makes her stand out in a good way. I think it compliments her skin tone very nicely, then again I'm a sucker for copper hair on a tanned complexion. Comparisons to Snooki are totally ridiculous!! I really hope she doesn't go any darker or deeper with the red, it looks lovely the way it is. Subtle and flattering.

Totally. I mean, you can't make this stuff up, it's so ridiculous.

I think her hair is more strawberry blonde than red or copper. Anyway, I thought she looked better as a blonde. ^_^

It's really fair. She is young beautiful actress (come on, enough talk about plastic surgery), she is really good example for people: no one scandal, no leaked naked pictures or videos, she hide her private life, relationship, she don't leaving a club every night without underwear or drunk. In fact she also face of Chanel. I really loved all this stuff about her.

^ All that tantamounts to being 'normal' not 'inspirational' :rolleyes:The same can be said about loads of other girls, like Leighton or Kristen or Emma Watson or Carey or Keira or... oh I dunno, every other sensible actress who is not a tabloid wh*re/trainwreck. Sorry, but not being a Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears doesn't warrant being called 'influential'.

Blake has achieved NOTHING in films till now, and one questionable TV show targeted at teens which enjoys a small viewership and having connections in the fashion world doesn't warrant this honour. (and she isn't even a fashionista like Posh Spice or even Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchett, whose style more people seem to care about.) I mean, if one stops for a moment and thinks: what has this chick really achieved, the answer is almost nothing extraordinary. She's just got a very active PR team which tries to ram her down our throats as the next big thing waiting to happen.

I really thankful that they named Blake. Leighton have one curious video, if you forgot btw. About Emma, Carey or Keira i don't care, that's all

i second that. she is a great role model for girls, after a whole bunch of LiLos and Paris and many manyyy others.

I guess she's a great role model compared to some.

But I don't think being influential necessarily means "good" or "bad."
It means you are powerful enough to have a great impact on the lives of people.
Something about you (whether it's fashion, the values you hold dear, your actions, your pursuits, etc) really appeals to people,
and makes them intrigued by you and want to listen to what you say and emulate what you do.

In that sense, Blake isn't influential to me. But no one can deny she's had a lot influence in the fashion industry
through her relationship with Anna Wintour and her role on Gossip Girl.

.

I would deny it. Gossip Girl isn't even as big as some people make it out, the fashion isn't great and it's a medicore, mostly cheesy programme with bad acting from some of the actors. It's really quite ironic that despite having the full force of Anna Wintour and Vogue and people like Karl Lagerfeld trumping her, I still don't 'buy' her as a fashion maverick. If anything it makes it more farcical

And I'm sorry, but being someone who doesn't get pictured at clubs or who protects her private life (debatable) is not enough to make someone gain a title of influence...that's ridiculous. To have influence you have to prove yourself. She is a young actress who has barely begun her career and isn't even the most talented of her age group. It's insulting to actresses who have their heads down and who don't get Vogue and Elle covers but who get legitimate good press about their acting abilities

All I have to say, is that being influential and being famous are not the same thing. And I feel like we often forget that.

^ Exactly. I'd also clarify that being "influential" is NOT the same as being a role model. There are lots of people out there who make positive role models, but being 'influential' is dependent on how much of an impact you truly have, and the scale of said impact. I consider myself a fan of Blake's, I truly do, but I'm not blind and I'm not biased in my love. Even I can see her mention is a joke. "Really fair"? Nah, not even a little. :D

IA she is not as much of a fashion influence as people (ie, her team) make her out to be. Anna Wintour flocks to her, but Anna also flocks to a lot of other young girls in Hollywood who did not make this list, girls who are given accolades for their fashion far more often than Blake is. If you want to make the argument that Blake deserves to be on this list because "Karl and Anna love her!!!" then surely it is actually Karl and Anna who yield the influence, and not Blake. People only really started taking Blake seriously in fashion when she earned/gained the support of those two individuals, and truthfully that says more about their power than it does about her. :/

Basically she is not the style icon her publicity team like to spin her out as, as of now she is not particularly well-regarded for her acting (the fact some reviewers were surprised she did a formidable job in The Town should say a lot) and she has done little influential~ charity work to note. Again, I like the girl, but Blake has done nothing to warrant being one of the world's Most Influential People, that's just calling a spade a spade. I don't blame HER for being on the list - it's not her fault at all, she didn't ask to be included on it - but that doesn't change the fact her inclusion IS a joke.

@JacquelineJane: Very well said. That's roughly what I was going to say, but I chickened out and said something somewhat nice instead. :p

But I completely agree. When I think of Blake Lively, literally nothing comes up.
Not fashion, not acting, and definitely not charity work.
She's quite a blah person, who seems to just do what others tell her.
Kind of like a puppet. She doesn't seem like her own person.
There's nothing about her that stands out from the crowd.

But I'm assuming Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour must
see something that the rest of us don't?
Something besides a body that just looks good in certain clothes.
That's what I meant by her influence in the fashion world.
