I've got olive skin you can say,and i've always wanted to wear blue
eye shadow, wether it's deep blue or skyblue.
But blue is such a strong colour,i don't know how to apply and what
other kinds of colours i can have with it without me lookin like
a blue monster.
Advice or pics? :flower:

In the past a lot of blues I have tried have looked absolutely shocking against my olive skintone but I have managed to find a palette of gorgeous blues which complement my skintone very well, it's the Stila Confections for Eyes and Cheeks #2, unfortunately it was LE and since sold out but you can still get it off ebay!

i agree with pradap, the palette she posted is real nice

only wear very dark blue eyeshadows myself, light blue tones can look very 'strong' and 80s

I'm not really sure, but a really bright electric blue might look really good against olive skin. Depending on taste though, it might be too outstandish.

Dark navy blues would love good, and put shimmer on top...awesome!

i have darker skintone & i wear all shades of blue.
i lovee to wear a deep navy blue smudgy smokey eye with baby pink glossy lips. it looks gorgeous.
aslong as you blend, you shouldn't look like you've stepped straight outta the 80's. for ME in makeup there are NO rules.
just NO blocks of sky blue shadow from lashline to brows.
try pairing blue with other colours, to tone it down. try olive greens, apple greens for a summery look, chartreuse . . . mix it up! & just have fun.
purple & blue is an obvious combo. as is blue & pink. blue and orange.
blue paired with coral looks fab. one of my fav.looks is blue all over the inner lid blended out into pinky-coral in the outer v.

Either a bright turquoise or dark blue looks best on olive skin with brown eyes. Don't do sky blue or baby blue because it looks kind of icky and will wash your face out.

agree. Blue rules:

no blue past the top of the crease

blend blend blend-make it look like a wash of color. This look is pretty with a neutral base color like beige, cream, pale peach up to brow bone, then a wash of blue on the lid.

if you use more than one blue, make it look like a gradual fading of darker to lighter-again with blending. An all blue eye cn be so pretty. Line with a blue shadow or blue pencil

blue looks great paired with purples& greens!!!

love the blue and green watery look

Parrot from MAC is gorgeous

You can also pair it up with greenish-turquoise tones, so you don't get a huge impact with a blue only, I mean, on the outer corner of your eye, you can use a dark blue eyeshadow, and doing the watercoloring effect ( which is blending really well two, three or ten colours together) while you go to the inner corner of your eye, you can actually create a very sublime look with blue, without looking like a cookie monster...

THis is a quick sketch I did in paint...don't judge, I can do better in real life

Makeup Tips

There are so many makeup tips as to how to use your eye shadows.

Be careful with your colors, although you may think blue eye shadow will bring out the blue in your eyes, many shades of blue will actually have the opposite effect.

Also keep in mind that too much added color distracts from your eyes, even if it matches your eye color.

Neutral eye shadows are the best to use on your eyes all year around, because they blend naturally and compliment your skin tone.

Soft colors found in skin, like: browns, vanillas, mauves, or beiges make the perfect neutral eye shadow.

For a sexy variation on neutral, try using colors that match the subtle undertones of your skin, like: gold, olive, pale purple, blue, and gray.

All types of neutral eye shadows are easy to work with.

May be you ll find it usefull.

There is a double shadow "Awake Stardom Graphics Eye
Duo Eye Color", you can find it on www.drugstore.com for $25 :

I want parrot!!!!

the most sought after MAC e/s... there's a very similar color coming out with the Ornamentalism collection (end of October i guess), called Blue Absinthe (for pics go to www.specktra.net then color stories 2005, scroll down to october)

I really love blue on eyes, there are so many shades of blue to choose from. I believe everyone can wear blue, you just have to find the right one.

Some suggestions (all MAC:(

Fade - mid jeans blue
Deep Truth
Contrast
Vellum - white/blue/violet duochrome, gorgeous over black khol
Freshwater - bright true blue (look at pic)
Ingenue blue - dark turquoise, I  this one, LE though
Plumage - almost black bluish green
Jewel blue - lighter version of Ingenue blue

then there's also Stila Peacock, but it's not that intense once applied

from left to right: Stila Peacock, MAC Freshwater, MAC Fade, MAC Plumage
