Bora Aksu Pre-Fall 2012

I love the top part of every look but everything below the waist is awkward and ill-fitting. Even the belts look very much useless and unflattering. I think they went a bit for a Haider Ackermann look with the styling and that doesn't work with these designs because they're too romantic and sleek and the styling ruins that. Still, it's a nice collection and Bora Aksu is becoming one of the many London-based designers whose collection I always look forward to.

I was feeling Haider throughout the collection, but my conclusion was because of that sort of petrol-blue in silk satin which Haider used recently. In fact, the draped trousers and heavier fabrics matched with extremely frail silk chiffon [for winter] remind me a lot of Haider also.
Of course Haider and his styling are much more liquid-like and natural, this feels quite stiff and mature.. especially with those horrible twee little grey skirts.
Seeing it in HQ I found that some of the pieces weren't constructed in too wonderful a way, but I still think there are a few good seperates and the collection is quite interesting.
