Bostonians - Winter Boots?

I am noticing that retro snow boots are back.
New to the Boston area, and curious, do Bostonians really wear snow boots in the winter?
Not like the Uggs,more like Tecnica and the new ones from Marc Jacob.

If the snow is above 6 inches(and it certainly gets like that in Boston) no shoes but boots survive.
It's just a question of how much you care about the shoes you intend on wearing. I suggest you change into them when you get to your destination.
