Less attention seeking early Madonna, and more coy ‘50s pinup girl, under- as outerwear stalked the spring runways in shockingly demure fashion. Structural bralettes were paired with high waist skirts (at va va voom Versace, no less), or tucked beneath preppy jackets to subtly sexy effect. For those for whom the skin-baring quotient is still too high, it’s useful to note that these chic sweet nothings make the perfect underpinning for another lingerie-inspired spring trend: sheers.
