As for the collection, I always thought that the likes of Brandon Maxwell, Christian Siriano, Takashi Shoji and Badgley & Mishcka would be able to do their gloriously basic collections season after season because they have a loyal base of clients who support them and that was enough. They never gave me the impression that they want to be the talked-about brand and I find that quite respectable.
But this collection looks like Brandon Maxwell doing Helmut Lang. You can tell that an investor started breathing down his neck to make the brand 'buzzy' or else. Problem is just that's it not authentic. A waste of fabric.
Wonder who's styling this brand now. Probably a big name, wouldn't be surprised if they start buying more ads.
