UK Vogue September 1993 : Christy Turlington by Mario Testino

From this issue I scanned the full Christy by Testino editorial, which IMO is one of their very best. Then I scanned some samples from the rest of the mag but I wont be scanning the full eds....sorry...

I simply love this cover, great colours, very autumn like, and no neon pink font in sight! These days Spetember covers dont look much different than any others in the year, so you get a September cover looking same like the August or July.

ps: Interesting to see Armstrong on the masthead, i had no idea, thought she was only a contributor, love her.

The cover manages to combine a restrained design with a sly bit of wittiness in the line beside her eye, and with Christy's beauty and the ladylike style, it's quietly brilliant. Seeing this cover again is the perfect antidote to the sight of magazines that now have to use visual warfare to attract attention.

^I have come to like her more now than I did before. She is less flexible than most models of her stature. But she has a quiet grace that I've come to really like...

First two Albert Watsons and then three Neil Kirk and Carla Brunis. I'm beginning to like Carla more as a model. I mean, her cheekbones are of course the stuff of legend, but she's always seemed so stiff to me. But somehow, her haughty - almost old lady like b*****ness has gotten to me and I'm probably going to have to rescan all my mags

Next up - Testino and Christy teach us twelve lovely English lessons.

^It's true, now that you mentioned it I had to go through the raw scans in order to make sure...but indeed it is Testino. I think the difference is that while the setting is very Elgort, there is less movement and more posing. And a few whips here and there

Kate's Bally ad looks a whole lot like Twiggy's Italian Vogue cover from April 1993.
