eBay and Makeup

How do you feel about buying makeup from Ebay? The idea of it makes me a bit nervous, but many things say that they've never been used or opened, and some are in the original packaging. There seem to be some good deals. Would you buy something? Have you?

I was wondering about this because I was looking for the holiday edition box of six mini MAC lipglasses today and I found out that it's sold out in stores, but it's for sale on eBay. I'd like a box because it seems to be a good deal for so many different colors, but I'm too afraid to buy something like that from an eBay vendor. Maybe that's silly, though.

Opinions? :flower:

I wouldnt recommend buying make up thats used, because its not very hygienic I guess especially for lipsticks and stuff..but if its brand new and never been tested then I would go for it.

I bought a new YSL touche eclat off ebay and it was new and cheaper than in stores :flower:

Yeah, you just have to make sure it's not used. I want to get some pallettes from MAC on ebay cause they have some old ones sometimes.

I've bought a Chanel palette and a MAC lipglass from eBay, and had no problems. Both were unopened and unused. :flower:

I have bought makeup on eBay, used and new. That's just me though.

FYI: eBay now has a policy against listing used makeup... they are pulling auctions..

Hmm, interesting. I appreciate the input. :flower:

I think I might actually consider buying something if it's cheap and unused. I was worried that people would have horror stories about buying this kind of thing on eBay, so I'm glad that you seem to think it's safe/ok.

some sellers specialise in make up, and its the same with anything on ebay, check over feedback and comments etc.

I think if they seem a reputable seller and its un-used then its fine :flower:

I've bought about a dozen or so cosmetics off ebay (mostly MAC) without any problems as well, so go for it girl! B personally, I would only buy from sellers who specialize in buying makeup and selling it so you know it's not someones personal item that they bought for themselves, tried on and decided they didn't like. So yeah, like everyone else said, check their feedback and see if the sell a lot of cosmetics.

:heart:Happy lipglossing!

I've bought new stuff on eBay no problems. Just beware of some people ripping off on shipping, always read that stuff ahead of bidding. I don't see how some sellers can justify charging $15 to ship an eyeshadow!

alll the makeup i sell is brand new. i can't imagine doing otherwise.

I've always had great luck with buying makeup on Ebay.

I've always had success buying new & used makeup on eBay.

never any problems buying makeup on ebay for me...

great for discontinued products.

I wouldn't buy my makeup on Ebay though, just in case.

And btwn, I prefer spending hours of excitement at makeup counters and getting to actually try products before buying them.

I have some make up/ perfume that I'm thinking of selling on Ebay,
anything I should think about before I do ? :flower:

Be aware from sellers that are selling "false" makeup on ebay, brands like Dior and Chanel i´ve read it on another forum that there is this seller called: glitzandglamourstore that is doing this.

GoldenButterfly, although i don´t know much about putting things up for sale on ebay, my advise (as a buyer) would be to take some very good pictures that really shows the colours and the state of the products. And get help from other websites that sell the products that you will sell to quote the discriptions of the products.
It really piss*s me to see bad pics where we can´t chech details.... :P

You should be fine, most people looking for makeup in Ebay already know what they are looking (brand, product, etc.) for....

While I've never bought make up on ebay, the idea creeps me out for some reason. Maybe I'm missing out but the idea of putting something untested on my face makes me uneasy. For some reason I just can’t trust it.

FYI, people aren't supposed to sell used makeup on ebay. you have to make sure you read the auction and see if there any pics to make sure they aren't any used items.

also be careful with fake items, samples, or things that are gift with purchase size. people do that with mac brushes, some of the pigments,

I've had a couple of problems in the past with buying makeup on Ebay. One time, a seller misrepresented an item and said it was new when it was used. Another time, I got an eyeliner whose shelf life had expired. It was old and unusable.I have bought hundreds of items since then, and have happy experiences.
