Calvin Klein S/S 2017 by Willy Vanderperre

the one with Lulu is giving me GAP's vibe... and I don't think it's a good thing

This campaign feel dates. It look like benetton ad in 80'.I though Raf Simon wil do same thing like his oen brand. It more like ed than ad.

Now that Raf at Calvin Klein is going to control everything - the company has even bought back most of the licensing deals - perhaps he wanted to differentiate the new stuff from what is already in department store piles? It's hard to change a direction with the same logo that is plastered on a bunch of cheap items. Just my two cents.

I was wondering what will happen with the loads of merchandise at outlets such as Amazon, for instance. And all those sublines. Will it be sold alongside the new stock?
Changing a logo is really a big deal, especially for a brand like CK. All the shop logos across the world must now be adapted accordingly, for starters. Perfume bottles, boxers, the works. This can turn out costly!
I hope for Raf's sake that this rebranding will pay off in a grand way.

Cannot help but thinking this was what he had in mind at Dior as well, but they most likely refused....

I think the Calvin Klein By Appointment is rather a separate campaign from the collection. That one is much more fashion-oriented as it serves for a new made-to-measure business than this one which looks like a main campaign for mass audience. At least both campaign feel like they come from the same universe. I just hope when Raf and Willy are both tired and stuck, he has to switch to a new collaborator because look at his last few Dior campaigns and how boring they were.

I don't miss this lite living Benetton style. That fantasy had my stomach turned.

I hate that they are leaving the iconic logo into this mediocre one.

do ads like these really appeal to the general public?

Changing designer and concepts were enough imo. No need to mess with the logo...

Perhaps the new logo is going to be use in certain items/collections? after all, Hedi changed the name and typography but he still still used the classic YSL logo for bags.

No, I don't think it does. But it's high time crass commercialism gets a twist, especially one pushing creativity. I'm sure an overwhelming percentage of consumers don't prefer produce to be shoved in their faces a la Louis Vuitton.

Only time will tell, I suppose.......

In other news, ahead of Raf Simons's debut as creative director later this week, Calvin Klein revealed its new logo. While not widely different to the instantly recognisable classic, the new design engineered by Peter Saville uses capital letters throughout. By introducing the new font, the company has returned "to the spirit of the original. An acknowledgement of the founder and foundations of the fashion house," it said in an Instagram post. Racked.com reports that the introduction of the new logo, renders $69 million of underwear - endorsed by the likes of Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner - obsolete.

While I don't mind the new logo it's ridiculous that it makes clothing like the underwear obsolete..
What are they going to do with it now? Throw it all away? Way to endorse sustainability...

^in any case, I´d say that now they´re worth more as something "vintage" and discontinued :D

^
No kidding, years from now...just imagining that.

Valid point, A, and this was one of my concerns as well. But there's no working around it if you want to start afresh. I'm sure some thought was given to this before they greenlighted the logo.

They can hold a final clearance sale for all the Tumblr/IG crowd, they'd lap it up.

I quite like the new direction, any move away from 'influencer' type fashion is good in my books.

This campaign called "Calvin Klein American Classics", they've upload all campaign pics on their FB

Stop complaining, the logo is a great update to the new CK era. It's clean and chic, very on par with Raf's vision and CK's minimalism. The old logo was simply too old. The updated version actually looks a lot better.
