I would like to see one of her exhibitions, but I don't think she has exhibited in Europe yet Mark Ryden just exhibited outside of the US for the first time last month, so I doubt Camille Rose Garcia has yet. I should really check her website.
I would like to own something of hers, but wouldn't be able to choose which nor could I afford it
This is a breath of fresh air from all the others in the low brow scene. What really gets me is her sculptures, they're awesome. I dig her style. Now I have to email my all my buddies this link.
Agree with Anna k--I love her use of mixed techniques which makes her work seem more alive & spontaneous than Ryden’s…I wish there were more screenprints available of her work…
The last image in the first post is available from http://www.mkgallery.com as is this suite I like—the prints are hand-glittered which sounds lovely:
There is also a great portfolio set available from http://www.pressureprinting.com/ They use interesting artisanal printing techniques on an antique printing press & handmade paper…I am eagerly awaiting a print from them I like & can afford!
thanks for the links nr9 - I thought her work would be more expensive. Still can't afford it especially with overseas shipping, but less than I thought!
I might buy the postcard set just so I have a little something.
Yeah I was also considering a postcard set which one do you like best? I think I prefer the the first set--though the posters incl. in both are not really my favorites unfortunately.
She did a great cover for Flaunt last year:
What a disappointment the mag. was though…no other artwork inside - it only mentioned this small blurb about her:
I remember the Flaunt cover, although I don't think I knew who she was then...I love how Flaunt have such interesting, non-fashion/celeb covers. They had a Kylie cover a while back but that was even done in a cool way that made you forgive them!
I think I like the second set of postcards best - "Bomb Shelter Bed Stories"
aaah you've tempted my credit card out my wallet when it should be staying locked out of reach!!!
She stands at the pinnacle of my interest in the world of lowbrow art; I her. I feel an urge to just flood this thraed with pictures, but for now, a devastatingly small one of the artist herself:
Awesome pics! This is so funny to see because I just bought Juxtapoz magazine last night where she is featured. Her artwork has the cover and they have a really nice interview with her inside. You guys should check it out.
one of my favorite artists. made the mistake of flipping through her recent book though which led to an inevitable pining for it.
yes, her converse contribution was fantastic, as is that issue of juxtapoz.
