from wwd...i guess her transformation to a swan is complete...

The quickened pace to add celebrities to beauty companies' rosters of spokesmodels continues, the latest move being Max Factor's signing of Carmen Electra as the face of the P&G cosmetics line in the U.S. Max Factor, a brand that was founded almost 100 years ago and immediately linked to Hollywood's most beautiful faces, developed the celebrity endorsement concept, beginning with Clara Bow in the Twenties.

"Carmen embodies the glamour and spirit of the brand and will speak to our trend-conscious consumer target in a dynamic way," stated Anne Martin, vice president of Global Cosmetics and Beauty Marketing, Procter & Gamble, in a release.

Electra, whom industry sources estimate will earn as much as $1 million for her partnership with P&G's makeup brand, will be featured in future TV, print and public relations efforts. The stunner's résumé is impressive, featuring a mix of movie, TV and stage experience. Currently, Electra is filming "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" for 20th Century Fox, due out next year. Upcoming films include "Dirty Love," starring Jenny McCarthy, which premiered at Sundance 2005, and "Searching for Bobby De Niro," directed by Paul Borghese. Last year, Electra released a DVD series, "Aerobic Striptease." She has also formed her own dance troupe ensemble called the "Bombshells."

Carmen Electra new face of Max factor

I might be a little late, but I didn't know this :)

Hollywood actress Carmen Electra has agreed to be the new face of cosmetics giant Max Factor.
Electra, who takes over from British actress Camilla Rutherford, is thrilled to represent the prestigious make-up brand, which has been endorsed by some top celebrities.

"It looks very innocent. It sort of has a classic kind of appeal and I think that sort of ties in with the history of Max Factor.

I like her unique look. Her heritage is Irish, German, and Cherokee. She's been around since she was in Prince's music videos... I guess it's about time she got signed on to something...

You know where I live in Canada, I haven't seen MF in stores for ages. I don't even know if it's available here anymore.

Carmen As A Blonde?

Carmen looks much better with dark hair. It brought out her features more. Now she just looks like every other blonde in Hollywood. She looks so washed out. It's a shame her stylist won't tell her. Her beautiful blue eyes are invisible near that pale mane.

I was just going to say, what happened to MF? That's a brand that has been going downwards for at least the last five or six years. It's about time they've stepped up their endorsements and advertising to get some of their old users back. The cosmetics industry is so competitive.

^ I am surprised a brand with a squeaky clean image would hire someone like Electra.....

Although I find her terribly tacky, I must admit she has a pretty face.... (not a unique beauty though)... ...but most Max Factor models are all pretty generic looking... :innocent:

^ I think they've been generic looking because, as you said, MF has maintained a fairly squeeky clean image. I think they focus more on the classic beauty, than on beauty trends. Maybe they're trying to switch things around a bit, to appeal to maybe a younger audience?

Just when you think Carmen is cleaning up her act, she starts looking cheap again. She looked best with her golden brown w/ highlights mane. Her hair is way too blonde now. She has an Young Ann Margaret quality about her. Max Factor is most likely trying to become a more hip company.. a bit more provocative. They most likely know that they are disappearing next to the competition, so they are re-inventing their image. We'll see what happens!

I personally don't think it's a good idea to get Electra to be their new face, because I don't find her to be very influential.... ...I'd rather see some fresh new model.... like Julia Dunstall..... :flower:

I don't think they can afford more than Carmen

But I bet she's getting a pretty sum for it. More than a fresh faced model, I'd think...

I think so too, she might be like a really bad actress, but still, I think she might be getting more than 1 million dollars no...?!

I agree totally. All these pretty brunettes eventually reach for the bleach.

Carmen is so beautiful but acts like trash which is off-putting.

The ads are in the new Marie Claire. Her hair is actually dark... she looks nothing like the first picture shown in this thread. She doesn't look trashy at all.... more fashiony and chic.
