For a feature inspired by the jewelry designer Elsa Peretti, photographed by Kacper Kasprzyk in Halston’s old New York apartment, the model Catherine McNeil was styled to look like the designer. Didier Malige made the wigs. Ms. Roitfeld said she took the images to Ms. Peretti to ask her opinion of them. Well, the designer is reported to have said that her breasts looked nothing like those of Ms. McNeil. “She said, ‘This is not me,’” Ms. Roitfeld said. By the way, Ms. Roitfeld said she happened to wear her own Elsa Peretti for Tiffany scorpion necklace, roughly 25 years old, to the couture shows this summer. But no one recognized it. “I have to keep it because I have to be a collector,” she said.
