im just ooking for some feedback on the issue of modern day fashion influences. who are the celebrities that most influence you style? what tv shows and movies do you think have started trends in society? im talking in the last few years (2000-today) any feedback would be excellent!!

you can check on of our threads here " Movies for fashion inspiration" or something like that... :flower:

great topic msm and welcome to tFS :flower: .

i'm not following celebrity styles myself,
so i'm looking forward to see what F.Spotters
think of celebrity fashion and the way it affects their choices

I only follow oneor two celebrities fashion chouices (Bjork,Alison Goldfrapp etc.)

most celebrities style is very boring and if i see it on them an dthen go to a stor a see it i will probebly not pick it up even if i liek it becuas i will be turned of by the conection

I'm not strongly influenced by what celebrities wear, but I do tend to check out celebrities close to my age whose style I like. For example, I like the style of Rene Russo, Michelle Pfeiffer, Elle MacPherson, Madonna (sometimes), Rosanna Arquette (sometimes), and others. But it's more of an overall look that I'm interested in, not a label.

Are you doing an essay on this topic msm121? :flower:

This is a good question. Because something major has definitely been shuffled into/out of the consideration of the masses. You are asking since 2000, eh? Then I would say, it the perception/definition of couples/coupledom. And all the media has followed suit. Do you agree msm121?

there arent any celebs that i can think of that are style muses in my eyes......

i like dvd re issues like style wars and grafitti rock - photo books like back in the day, exhibit A , etc. i also keep old fashion/music magazines on hand for styling insperation. everything that inspires me is definatly of the past. i dedfinatly do not find these unstylish money/power , label hungry people like Jlo fashion muses. IMHO

no im not really writing an essay on this topic, more just doing some research in this area. keep the influences coming.

I don't follow many of today's stars, but one I always will

My style would be defined as sort of my fashion icons...."Grace Kelly,Audrey Hepburn, Princess Di,Jackie O, Sara Jessica and Halle Berry gets whipped up in a blender and comes out as....me!" I bight off all of their styles.
I'm proud to admit it.....

:P

I'm not huge on following celebrities' looks, but there are some stars that sport stylin' casual looks, such as

Kate Hudson
Amanda Peet
Jessica Simpson
Halle Berry
Jennifer Aniston

Hmm... the main celebrity I look up to for fashion is Jennifer Aniston. She's pretty safe when it comes to fashion sooo lol that's me  I also look to Gwen Stefani, and Angelina Jolie. Im obsessed with the movie THE MATRIX so im really influenced by what they wear in the movie. The whole summer I was hunting down sunglasses which Keanu wore in the movie.

I generally like the styles of Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Sarah Michelle Gellar. A tv show that I think has had a big impact on fashion is Sex & the City.

I think younger generations are more influenced by stars themselves rather than a middle aged - older generation who are influenced by style itself.

For example, I think that a young person would try to dress like JLo, but not think about her total style, just what she was wearing at the time. Whereas a slightly older person might take the whole look into account, and take what they want from that.

I don't know if that made sense... :ninja:

My personal style icon's at the moment, are:

Liv Tyler
I love how she always looks so unique in her own way, and never appears overbearing with her label choices.

Kate Bosworth
I like how young and fresh she always look, and always seems so elegant and put together. She never seems 'out there' - but I personally like that sort of style.

I hope this helped in some way :flower:

Liv Tyler is a great person to watch!

I also loved the way Carolyn Bessette Kennedy wore black.

I have to disagree. It's true millions of women watched this show aspiring to this lifestyle and wanting to buy into the 'If it's a choice between my Manolos and an apartment, it's my Manolos anyday' lifestyle.

However in reality, how many Carrie Bradshaw lookalikes do you see walking down the street? The styling on the show was very heightened especially as the seasons rolled on. It got more and more outlandish and extravagant to the point where it passed reality and became more of a fashion fantasy.

In terms of influence, I think shows like The O.C. seem to be having a huge impact on the younger generation (because they are the generation who are more likely to be influenced and swayed by TV shows). I've seen countless teens here say things like 'Is this very Marissa?' 'OMG...I have just seen a Seth Cohen-a-like!' If it's like that over here in the UK....lord knos what it's like in the states.

The celeb's that have most influenced my style are Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and Vince Vaughn.

Pharrell has the funky fresh always cool style...like bapes and classic skater. Kanye has the prep/expensive look...and Vince is just classic fresh

i always find inspiration from old hollywood stars and movies...

eg. rita hayworth in gilda
liz taylor in a place in the sun
audrey in well just about any of her films
