I signed in for the august (1 week) photography course and I'll (probably) be staying at Connaught Hall. Anyone else here at The Fashion Spot doing the same course?

hey..as i mentioned before i took fashion design beginners course last summer n i stayed at Connaught Hall.it was a nice place but my room was looking through the terrace n it was very uncomfortable because others were doing a lot of noise.besides this i enjoyed both the course n the place.good luck:magic:

^hum...just a series of my works. i had 40 artworks in my portfolio...i couldnt stuff any more because the portfolio only holds so many works =T
i had alot of differnt stuff in it...paintings, sculpture, digital arts, illustrations, fashion illustrations, life/figure drawings, sketches etc.

im gonna apply for BA fashion design afterwards.

thus...i was thinking if i should transfer to london college of fashion for foundation instead because it seems to focus on fashion more. if i do go to LCF for foundation...would it be harder to get into the BA course at CSM?

it's funny...after looking at the grad shows from CSM and LCF...i actually think there are better designers from LCF than CSM.

That's what I wanna know too cuz now I need to choose between CSM and LCF. I know that LCF is more focused on fashion and I've heard good things about LCF foundation course. The CSM foundation course sounds good too because you get to try different things before jumping in to fashion but I've heard that CSM has too many people and I might not be able to specialise in fashion in the foundation course cuz the competition is so high. I really like both schools and I dunno which one to choose. I'm a very undecisive person so this is really hard for me...

40 pieces! Wow that's a lot! What size should the pieces of work be in? Like, A4, A3? You have to send in copies and photographs, right?

International fees cost about $22,000 AUD at CSM. In Australia most uni fees for local students are upwards of $19,000 AUD. So not so much of a difference there, except for the cost of living in London !

Sorry for my silly questions (and stupid rant)!

:P

It's also hard to find a job in London being a student!!

hey tinkyme...are you going this september? maybe we can meet up or something. do you know where you are gonna live? im hoping i get the mannah ash house.
yea..i thought about swtiching to LCF when i go there..but i dont know >.<
but than again..it is nice to get your hands dabbed into other fields so i can have something to fall back on...and i can experience other things before dedicate myself completely to fashion.

chip45...i used a 8.5 by 11(so regular paper size) for the portfolio. it's not as expensive as to sending something bigger. i dont trust slides =T

i know!! my parents dont want me working for at least the first two years since those two years is how they determine if you can stay or go. im planning on bring EVERYTHING there..anything that i can carry with me. maybe even pots and pans

EVERYONE applies for Manna Ash so i wouldnt get your hopes up, the social life there is crap anyway i was in Furzedown and i loved every second of it!

hey guys..i wish i was in your place:flower:but impossible for me to afford it. i don't know if it's gonna help u but a girl that i met in london last summer was in her foundation year at CSM but she was not gonna apply for BA in fashion.it was sth different. anyway she told me that it is better to take fashion folio course at CSM instead of foundation year.fashion folio at CSM is better to get in for BA in fashion at CSM...

furzedown seems like a pretty big place and far.

(haha..markham..that's the area i live in here in toronto:innocent: )
edit: if i can get julian markham..i would be very very happy...very!

ah. so lucky! i wanted to go to csm so badly! but..my parents insist that i go to parsons; i got in there w/ a scholarship..but i'm hoping to do my foundations there and then transfer to central saint martins.
congrats muxu!!!!

^parsons is a great school too! congrats on getting scholarship and getting in. i think my friend is going to parsons as well...hehe

hey MUXU, I'm going there this september too and i'm also hoping to get Manna ash house. My second choice is Don Gratton and my third is Julian Markham so i guess we're applying to the same houses? =) I guess we could meet up or something. I'm really excited but the thing is I'm still deciding between LCF and CSM (more towards CSM though).

Congratulations!!! I also applied to Parsons but i haven't got a reply from them yet. Parsons is a really good school and it's great that you got scholarship :D

funny..haha..my choices are in the same order as you:wink:
i completely gave up on don gratton...im hoping to get julian markham actually. i think the floor plan might be better than the other two. since my mom is pressuring me to bring this big, long chinese instrument there so i can practice:doh: but who knows...
im staying at CSM...im not transferring
i added you on msn

Those 3 are the most popular halls EVERYONE and i mean everyone in the university of the arts applies for them

^i know :( but i can at least try right? if i cant get one of those three..i dont really care where i end up living

hum...since the BA fashion is hard to get in...i should start preparing my portfolio now right?
VICTIM...when you applied for the BA course...how many pieces did you submit? and what kind of pieces they want? do they want alot of fashion related stuff? like sewned garments or something of the sort

Has anyone applied for menswear? I've got an interview for the department coming up on my birthday of all wretched days and have no idea what to expect. I think American portfolio processes are different, I didn't even send a proper one in for Parsons and got in...

Spill the beans, VICTIM, we'll love you for life...

omg dont start preparing already thats absolutly ridiculous dont freak out at all (not now anyway! - dont even think about it, you have to get fashion as a specialism in foundation before you even think about the BA) your foundation is where you prepare your portfolio thats what the course is for
i cant remember how many pieces i had but not a lot of it was fashion, they dont want anything in particular they just want you like what represents you though i hear life drawing is a massive bonus (i did have some life drawing pieces in my portfolio) they dont care if you have sewn garments i think i had one and it was kind of bad hahaha:flower:

i have no idea what happens for american students birdofparadise i didnt even know they got interviews:unsure:

^haha..ok. i guess i am freaking out abit
i had alot of life drawings in my portfolio...maybe that's why i got in?

I was wondering.. is it actually possible to get into CSM without a foundation course? What do you need to have in your portfolio then?
