Amorousluna, I'm afraid Cetaphil cannot remove heavy makeup throughly... You can try Fancl mild cleansing oil if you have the access to it, it's really gentle for sensitive skin and would not dry out.

I'm keen on getting this ASAP. I've been trialing Neutrongena pore refining cleanser, since I have blackheads all over my nose, and even though it seems to be getting better using it. The rest of my face has gone blotchy and there are pores coming up in other places.

Before moving here to the states, I have combo skin and wear MAC Sudio Fix to work, Cetaphil works great but did not do a good job remving makeup. My face wasn't smooth because it wasn't really clean . But it does not dry or make my skin tight after using it. I have used it for 8 yrs now and now living here with the weather making my skin dry ( no more combo) Cetaphil will be my staple forever I still wear foundation but this time I put cetaphil on dry skin and rub it . You can see the makeup coming out. Then I moisten a sponge or round cotton with water and wipe it clean, then rinse my face . My skin feels baby soft and I do not have to scrub once a week like I used to, maybe twice a month . But blackheads still remain, of course.

I use cetaphil gentle cleanser and I've been mixing a little bit of St. Ives apricot scrub for sensitive skin with it (like the size of a dime, and more cetaphil than scrub). I mix it in my palm and it works good as a gentle exfoliator like every other day or so!

I know this thread hasn't been active in a long time but could anyone tell me if Cetaphil is available in Ireland? I havn't had time to really properly check anywhere but so far I have not come across any of the range. If anyone has any info it would be great, thanks.

An esthetician I saw recently told me that because Cetaphil cleanser is alcohol-based it's less than fabulous for your skin. I was under the impression that this cleanser was about as gentle as it gets, and personal experience with lots of other cleansers confirms this. Anyone know anything about it?

I wondered about that too! I have combination skin and wanted to try it but the alcohol puts me off!

I personally found Cetaphil to be tolerable, but a bit on the strong side. I've used CeraVe for a long time now and I like it much better.
