Chanel - The All-Things Chanel Thread

Can’t find a source in English but Eliane Heilbronn has passed away. She was the Wertheimers mother but more importantly the real mastermind behind Chanel’s revival in the 80s, as well as the ultimate decision maker of the company.

Kind of funny product placement for iPads. Not a big fan of what looks like the most unflattering pair of pants ever created. With an elastic waist!!
Funny you thought about iPads as product placements because I was thinking the same about Tilda's camera, the Fujifilm X100V:

And tbh I have seen much worse pair of pants - Giannini's low crotch jodhpurs for instance - those white ones are just classic wide-leg double-pleated pants.
I may be wrong but it's the top which has an elastic waistband, a hint of nautical sportswear, very Trouville.

Wenders's film is dreamy though.

I am surprised that they were able to capture the dreamy atmosphere of the place (probably during spring/summertime) because in reality it is quite a pedestrian place especially in winter. They should have chosen the Forbidden City instead but I doubt the team was able to conceive an imperial court-inspired collection. In this case, I think they would just focus on its cultural silk and handicrafts.

You are absolutely right - It's a shirt with a waistband, which is actually quite fresh, now that I look at it again on the still images you posted. And très Trouville, of course! What a great analogy.

I just think the cut + fabric on the trousers don't feel correct - maybe too stiff? Too much volume around the hips and groin? Not quite as refined, as I would expect, though I get the idea.

And lol at Gianninis low crotch jodhpurs - I erased them from my memory a long time ago.

They sould at least do a collab with Fujifilm, just slap a CC logo on it and charge it 10 times more!!! It's not that hard

Tbh I just found her looks more suited for the Deauville collection than a Chinese one.
Just glad they forgot the hats.

Audrey Tautou also had a camera in the old N.5 perfume film but no one talk about it at that time because the cinematography was brilliant. This short film is like the worst product collaboration (ipad, camera, laptop and chanel)one can imagine.
If you've been following Wim Wenders lately, he's really into the transfigurative experiences that can procure cleaning public toilets in Tokyo or, in this case, contemplating a coromandel screen at rue Cambon.
I find it corny but to each their own.

And add a matching special edition camera bag at 14,500, ofc colour-matching and quilted. So they can sell the full set at 23,500.
Announce them as an edition of 100.
Easy peasy merchandising.

Do we really have to do all their design and marketing ??
