Not a big Chanel fan (mostly just the Haute Couture) but this sounds intresting (esp. the craft and detail). Can't wait to see it.
Chanel Debuts “Cinq à Sept” Collection
Unique RTW arrives this May
Friday, February 20, 2004
Special delivery to a Chanel store near you: this May, Chanel debuts a special ready-to-wear collection called “Cinq à Sept.” The forty-two looks, separate from the Karl Lagerfeld-designed spring and fall collections, feature the work of five master craftsman from five collaborating ateliers, including costume jeweler Desrues, milliner Michel, feather artist Lemarié, embroidery specialist Lesage, and bootmaker Massaro.
The intricate pieces will feature embroidered chiffon, worked satin, ruffled tulle, and sequined lace and will be paired with comfortable jersey fabrics, crocheted knitwear, and thick pullovers. The overall look? “Casual silhouettes with an easy-going modern touch,” says a company rep.
The collection will be available this spring in select Chanel boutiques, select Neiman Marcus stores, and at Bergdorf Goodman.
Chanel recently sponsored a special presentation of the “Cinq à Sept” collection at the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Committee celebration, where celebrities like Kristin Davis, Ethan Hawke, and Julie Bowen read love letters from well-known literary couples in tune with the evening’s “evolution of love in letters” theme.
