A cross between Art Deco and safari, Charles Warren’s collection was dreamy yet wearable. A yellow linen dress with fold-over panels in a natural hue was surprisingly flattering, but it was a white pleated tube dress with pleated overlay that looked chicest of all.
“I am always influenced by architecture and geometry,” said Charles Youssef, a Central Saint Martin graduate who introduced his collection at New York Fashion Week. His references were evident in the cut of some of the garments, such as a black crop top with voluminous, almost 3-D sleeves that were cut out at the elbow. Most wearable were his soft pink silk crepe dresses with small triangular cutouts, and a red halter frock with a cutout back.
