Cheryl Cole

oooo i love it. love ray kays videos...they always look so slick and glossy. <3

I love the army/captain (?) outfit & the bit where the lights are moving in stripes against the wall. gorge!

Thanks VersaceLuca586, I really like the video except for the PJ's dancing part. The video is very RnB inspired I feel, and I love almost all of the outfits.

However I hate it when people compare Victoria Beckham and Cheryl, however I'm about to do it myself and say that both a military hat and balmain jacket were used in the video, two things VB was wearing quite a bit a few months ago.. If I were her (even though Balmain and their shoulders are the look of the season) I would have really stayed away from anything VB has worn, especially the military hat..

No problem! :)

The song is very catchy, but i was expecting a much better video since there is so much "hype" surrounding Cheryl right now.

I found it really... average. I think the outfits and styling were garish... and the concept-- oh wait, what concept? Budget vid.

Oh, and can I just add that the outfits were so off trend. Leather leggings and military? That was cool like, 12 months ago???? Combined with the chavvy looks and WAG hair it pretty much falls flat.

I don't think she's trying to channel VB with the red jacket. Just because VB wore it doesn't mean Cheryl had to run after her and copy her style or whatever. Balmain has been famous with celebs everywhere and I've seen the acid washed jeans and the blazer so many times that it doesn't surprise me that Cheryl's got a similar look.

The video isn't made to be "fashion forward." Although fashion is a part of the video making industry, it isn't the focal point. The important thing is the message of the video and what she wants to showcase, which I think is her dancing. GA videos never have that strong of a dance with the song so its obvious that its one of the things she wanted to show through her new single career. Creativity wise, I think its really unique and I love that they used her handwriting on the part where they show the lyrics of the song in the background.

I like the video and the song even more.
The worst part of the video are the dance scene with the unprofessional dancers, nothing is synchrony.

I like the song a lot, but I feel a little let down by the video. I don't think it's a particuarly bad video, apart from the wardrobe. The Balmain dress looks really great on her, but I can't say I'm all that fond of the rest of her outfits. Which is a shame.

The PJ bottom things are awful, and the shoes that they put with them (Seriously?!) and that tiger print sequin hoodie thingie, with the hood up? Just...no Cheryl, no.

Stick with the Balmain love.

I think when the XFactor live finals kick in we're going to be seeing her in some Balmain dresses.

the leopard print pyjamas are horrendous and other than that i have no words, when i saw them i was just speechless, it is like she is purposely sabotaging herself. some of the looks reminded me of her will.i.am video for "heartbreaker" which i didnt really care for. Yet on the other hand some of the looks were great imo and the video itself was quite unique but there is much room for improvement in terms of the outfits and chavy hair styles.

You misunderstood what I meant, I wasn't saying she was trying to be VB, and I'm well aware Balmain is huge with a lot of celebs, but personally I would have distanced myself from anything VB has worn in the past 6 months (since they get compared by the tabloids, gossips columns etc etc so often) I think it would have been a smart move. I actually really like the video the more I watch it, like song it's a complete grower on me. ^_^

I really wanted to like the video, but seriously is just isn't very good.:(
I have seriously gotta take issue with the jammy bottoms:shock: what or who the hell convinced her to wear them??:ninja:
The song is a little bit of a grower, but again it just isn't anything special, and on future listens I doubt it will get any better for me.
On a brighter note I just fell in love with her all over again on the X Factor last night.:crush:

I agree with eveyryone...really wanted to like this but single handedly the leopard print pyjama bottoms ruined it, worse was dancing in the pyjama bottoms...had they just cut those scenes out it would have been ok, nothing special, but ok...I just can't understand how in a room of paid professionals nobody questioned this!! I see the similarities with the will.I.am video too, overall I don't think she should be trying to do purely r&b at the start of her solo career, but maybe their keen to crack the American Market first...

The video is very simply, but still pretty incredible actually. She is just so beautiful and it's great to see in her so many different looks, which I all like.

Yeah, I mean I guess she could do that but how can someone avoid what VB's wearing?! What she wears is pretty much perfect at all times!

Oh god yes, VB's style is pretty much perfect all the time. I just think because of all those 'WAG' comparisons constantly Cheryl ought to be careful with what she chooses to wear imo.

I think she looks fantastic in the video. I think it's less about being "on trend" or distancing herself from girls aloud/victoria beckham and more about creating a certain look for the video. She's got a fierce, warrior sort of look going on and I think it works and she looks terrific.

I agree with fauxxaffliction; I don't think the video is about distancing herself from the WAGs but more of creating a look for herself.

And the leopard pants. Don't boxers wear something similar to that before they fight when their name is called? Like something made of silk and loose? This theme sort of runs through the video because she does do a "warrior type" of a look for almost all of her outfits but with an edgy turn. The multi coloured animal print hoodie is also weaved in because the hood is up and I guess that's a "boxer" look etc.

Just a thought, I might be completely off though.

^ There's a "fighting" theme throughout the video, so you're probably right about that.

I understand the theme of the video, boxing theme in one scene and military themed wear in another (the idea of fighting for love) it's very simple, very see through actually, I don't think she's made a look for herself to be honest.

I just think her stylist for the shoot gave her bad PJ's, a hooded top that's be worn by Lady Gaga, and Balmain and military jackets/hats that were also sported by Victoria Beckham, this is nothing to do with WAG's, I only mentioned it in passing. But if anything she hasn't got herself a new look, it isn't new at all it's just been fed to her by a stylist, we've seen it all before..

In fact the more I sit here and type and discuss the video with you all, the more I'm beginning to hate it to be really honest.

This isn't a video about keeping up with fashion/style. She's created her own style through the video and what does it matter if her style correlates with Lady Gaga's and VB's?

Like I said earlier Balmain is famous with everyone and if she's wearing their clothes, is she just being a follower of the rest of the people? If VB was the only one wearing Balmain, I'd be concerned but she isn't.

I think to be honest with you it's unrealistic to say this video isn't about fashion/style after last year and the press she got for what she wore every week she needs to keep it fresh and young even when following a theme of fighting for love in a video, and it's true Balmain is huge atm with everyone, so maybe she could have took a different root and worn other designers clothing, rather than following the crowd.. Like I said the more I talk about the video the more I'm disapointed about what she actually wore.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree, because we've both got different opinions on this video, and I don't want to babble on for ages saying the same thing over and over again ^_^
