i went by the store the other night--didn't see any women's thermals but i was quickly browsing. nice store! i look forward to the sales. haha.
 
As the sun was finally shining today I stopped by the MJ store...huge disappointment. The NY stores are cute, this one's like a dis-used garage...it reminded me more of a fire sale than anything else. It had a very temporary feel...like, if the store fails, it's okay because it can get it broken down in about 2 days (some of the storage bins even had price stickers on, like they were going to be returned).
 
I am SICK SICK SICK of the weather. I am sorry, I just had to get this out. I really can't deal with it anymore!!!

Seriously, enough is enough! I feel like we're going to get a storm of locusts sometime soon...we've had everything else recently.

I can't know how it looked when you were in there, but I went Friday night and they were working on window displays and painting the back wall. Maybe the place is a work in progress. I really do like the charitable Tshirt project though.


I went to Akira as well Friday. I like the store, but really am not a fan of their sales approach. I feel stalked by their sales people when all I really want to do is shop around and they continue to want to take what I have to the dressing room for me then they stand around the dressing rooms while you are in there. Sounds like it could be helpful, but I found it to be obnoxious:unsure:

not only obnoxious, but stressful b/c you feel pressured to buy something.

i love the mj stores in ny. Haven't checked out the one here yet but I'm not getting my hopes up. :innocent:

any ongoing or upcoming sales/events lately in the area?
 
I work by the Macy's on State and really dislike that store. It is soo overwhelming, I'm not sure where to look to find anything!
 
I'm visiting Chicago in two weeks, and was looking for a little advice on some places to shop. I'm mainly looking for smaller shops that are unique to the city. Resale shops would be great too, I'm planning on checking out the buffalo exchange in wicker park. Interested in places that would have the likes of rick owens, raf simons, cdg. Not just looking for higher end if there are some places that sell Fred Perry, Nice Collective, Nudie Jeans. Thanks a lot for any advice or a website to which you could refer me.

Whild you are in Wicker Park stop in Akira. The different 'departments' are all up and down North avenue, but I think the men's shop is at 1922 W North
 
If you happen to be shopping on Michigan Avenue this Thursday or Friday (April 10 and 11), you may want to stop by Zac Posen's trunk show with informal modeling at Saks. Zac will be there on Thursday to meet the public from 1 to 3pm.
 
On my visit to Chicago I went to this really great store on Division, and I lost the card and dont remember what the name of it was. I wanted to do some charge sends, but dont have the info. I remember it was really stark and had only a few racks. They carried Messagerie for men as well as a few other labels. Right now they have black raincoats in the window. The title was "blank" Chicago. Any help would be great.

Also, anyone know of any Sample Sales or something? :flower:
 
This is awful, but i still have not been in there! I guess i will blame the winter hibernation. It is about 2 blocks away from my apartment...really sad! I am definitely going to check it out this weekend!
 
I have only been to one sample sale in chicago...built by wendy a couple yrs ago. I don't hear of them often...only from the daily candy emails.

anyway, i usually love robin richman, hejfina, tangerine (for the good mix of style) the most, sometimes jake and barneys. but i usually stay in the wicker park area. Also...nordstrom, n rack and forever 21/h&m/aa...of course! I got an amazing vena cava cami for $19 at filenes on state recently so am going to start checking that out more often.
i wish we had more choices here..i internet-shop a lot, but it is getting much better.
