Child-like Style

A lot of the last pics confuse me..... They're not my idea of child like style.... they're just "cute & fun".....

I like the idea behind this shoot. I think some of the elements, such as the knitted accessories would really work in an everyday way without being sweet or kitsch B) From photographer Matthew Shave's website - matthewshave.com

oh, stilista, those remind me of an editorial in vogue italia, with frankie rayder i believe, could have been steven meisel, and it was called 'tuesday's child' or something like that.... i wish somebody could find it...

you're very welcome, lena!

tinuviel, i'm the same:ninja:

it's the moomin's house by the way....^_^

I don't know if I know that shoot, Anna, it sounds great, I'm going to have to find it!

Can't believe that's the Moomins house!! B)

^yeah those images are very compelling....almost sort of deranged

i think people of all shapes and sizes so experiment w/ wearing things that are completely not 'pc'... like women who aren't skinny at all who wear leggings that show ever bulge and dimple. i think it could be really lovely and liberating :P

...that's very interesting Travolta...would you care to expand on this a bit? :flower:

...just a thought...people like Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui have been successfully dressing with doll-like naivete even though their own beauty is not traditionally doll-like...takes guts but can be great it it's truly you...

^the only thing about Anna and Betsey is that they never really do anything amazing with their interpretations. It always ends up looking a bit uninspiring.

Hmm, that's true Scott. I just view it more like their trademark than anything else. They can be caricatured easily, and you're right, I wouldn't say they "dress well" if inspiration is what you are looking for. I just think theirs is a different but valid attitude to dressing too, as long as it comes from within.

(...I'm talking about the designers themselves and not so much their collections of course...)

   I feel like I should be contributing to a therapy fund for those girls ...

I find that when it's too "styled" and "made up" it loses some of the intuitive, thoughtless, child-like magic for me. :)

This thread is right up my alley... I'm definitely one of those university students that you think looks like a fool for wearing kitty prints and poofy skirts...

Hussein Chalayan does childish sometimes, I have an overall apron dress by him... Junya Watanabe Fall 2005 was also oh so young and innocent.
