Hi ladies, I have one strange question and one normal question for you all. I'll ask the strange one first. I noticed that the bag I got from Nordstrom doesn't come with the round hangtag. In fact, it looks like the hangtag was cleanly snipped off from the tying string (whoever did it didn't even bother untying it, which is pretty easy). I called up Nordstrom to ask for a replacement tag and they said that all the bags in this particular shipment came without the round hangtags. Has anyone had similar experience? I just thought it's strange that they come without the round Chloe hangtags and that mine looks like it was cleanly snipped off with a pair of scissors.

Which Nordstrom did your bag come from? Do you think it could have been a return because all the bags I have received have the round tag. When I returned my chocolate, I had removed the tag upon receiving the bag and instead of tying it back on, placed it in the inside pocket. And I confess I snip the tags, not untie them, but I always return bags with the original tags, not throw them away.

My other question is about hobo vs. satchel. I'm torn right now between the satchel and the hobo. Ideally I want them both, but I'm trying to be "good". I'm looking for something I can use for work and play. I am not into big bags, I prefer bags that are more proportionate to my body. I'm 5"8' but rather twiggy-looking. :flower:

Koukanamiya, Did you purchase your bag from Nordstrom SCP? If so, I am not suprised by the tag scenario. N-SCP is great to shop from as they get quite a few bags in on a regular basis (and generally, styles come in there before they get to the SCP Chloe boutique). However...they do some "funny" things with tags, locks, keys, etc. I have purchased several Chloe bags from them...it is not uncommon for the hangtag to be "stored" in the interior pocket. The SAs are also taking the keys off of the bags most of the time now. Apparently they have experienced theft problems (bags missing tags, keys, locks, etc.). In terms of missing tags, I believe it could happen...

Now, hobo vs. satchel. I have tried both and find the satchel hangs better on me than the E/W hobo (if you like your bags to hang a bit higher and closer to your side). I personally like the zippy better than the satchel as I am a bit "curvy" on top and side profile is more rectangular-slim whereas the satchel profile is more triangular. I think the satchel looks amazing on more "twiggy" types. Mammab could give you another comparison as both bags work for her.

And mammab, I am feeling your fever! Two bags on the way for "inspection"... The "this vs. that" Chloe dilemma continues...

On the side, don't you hate it when you call around, make the commitment, and just a bit later realize you should have asked one more question...

Hi SoCal, thank you very much for your input:flower: . The Satchel is from the Nordstrom at the Grove. I remember seeing a couple of Paddys at the South Coast Plaza Nordstrom and they all have the round hangtags. This is really driving me crazy ... Whoever that snipped the hangtag didn't even bother removing the little tying string (it was still tied to the handle of the bag) and I couldn't find the roundtag anywhere in the bag. By the way, the bag came with the lock still wrapped in foam.

I guess with regards to Satchel vs. Hobo, I should probably really order a Hobo and compare. By the way, the Nordstrom at The Grove told me that their Hobos also came without the hangtag. Somehow it just doesn't make sense to me.

Hi Roey, the bag was from The Grove's Nordstrom. the tag was definitely cleanly snipped off (I can see the cut on the string) but they left the string on, which I thought was strange. I know I wouldn't carry my bag with the white string still dangling. The Nordstrom tag is hanging on the bag though (with one of those plastic ties that you cannot untie and must snip off). I cannot find the roundtag anywhere and it just seems strange to me that they say the shipment came without the tags. I mean, why go through the trouble of snipping off the roundtag on every bag? Also, my lock came wrapped in foam. They said it's right out of the stock room ... Does brand new Paddy has lock wrapped in the foam wrapping?

My brand new whiskey (actually, two whiskeys, as I returned one that came without a key!) came with foam around the lock.

hi girls,
i just picked up my small cream paddington small pocket (spring 2006) at Chloe's at SCP yesterday. FYI, in case you wanted to buy it, they just received a big shipment of these in the whiskey/choc colors on display. I think the cream one was unavailable. They were going like hot potatoes. ;)

I got my tan baby paddy!!! omg, the leather is AMAZING!!:woot: :D :woot: I have now found a new love.. I loved Balenciaga for their thin/soft leather.. but I definitely have to say that the chloe thick/soft leather is even better! I just can not get over how gorgeous the bag is!

Do all Chloe bags with brass hardware have silver zippers though? Im surprised they wouldnt do all the same color hardware! Nonetheless, I love my new bag and made an excuse to go shopping just to carry it!! hehe

Has anyone used apple care leather products on their paddington?? I want to waterproof mine! thanks!^_^

Can you elaborate on what this bag looks like? Price?? The small pocket description is throwing me off.

Congrats on your new bag!!

Some leather conditioner or a baby wipe might remove that. I have had great luck with Appleguard Leather Care. Another thing you might try is mild soap and warm water, taking care not to completely saturate the leather. Untreated leather has a tendency to dry darker, so if you find your efforts at removal has removed the stain but left a dark spot, gently stretch the leather in all directions and it will most likely start to lighten up and return to normal.

These are only suggestions. Without knowing what the stain is, I can't determine if it can be removed, but it's worth a try.

roey, thanks for the suggestion but i have no experience with leather and am chicken to try for fear i might ruin it. I did try water but it didn't do anything. the stain seems to be the one they use to finish the edges of the raw leather on the seams.
have to see if applegard products can be shipped to japan. which ones should order? TIA! karma to you!

I agree with Roey, I would try to remove the stain. I understand that it bothers you. It would bother me too. If the stain doesn't come off and LVR can send you another one right away - then I'd return that one. However, if LVR can't replace it right away I might consider keeping it. (LVR should really inspect everything that they ship out! I have had such excellent luck with everything I've gotten from them).

janyoung, lucky you! am waiting to hear from them. i wish i could undo the stictches and put the stained part under but then it still wouldn't be a pristine bag!

Poor Bijin -- ((((((( sends hugs ))))))

If the stain is really from the paint or whatever the heck they use to seal the edges, you'll never get it off. My Blanc hobo has some "drips" here and there as well. and its on the handles; however, they are about the size of a pin head, maybe bigger. But I noticed them since the bag is white....(another thing to add to the list of issues w/the blanc hobo aside from the spray paint on the hardware and dinged up lock).

I would definitely send it back if that is what it is and demand an exchange or something and demand that the service be sped up since you've been waiting forever in the first place.

Or if you can live with it, how about a refund/discount? Do they do that?

thanks mammab.:flower:
where are your big, cute smilies?
yes, it's the stain for the sealing the edges so it's a pretty strong formula. i don't want to touch unless i'm pretty sure what will work.
hmmm, must get on with life and not get depressed over this stain!
there's more to life than a bag!, right???? not!

Koukanamiya- i had the same problem deciding between the hobo and the satchel when i got my paddy. i chose the hobo beacuse i like the fact that it easily fits on my shoulder and the fact that you don't see them around as often as the satchels. i got my bag from nordstroms at the grove too, but mine came with the round tag... i have some pictures posted like a page back of my khaki hobo, if you need a reference.

Does anyone have or have you seen the large Chloe with pocket? I'd like to know if you think it is much heavier with the extra pocket than the plain original......

I have used apple guard on both my paddies. It was really weird with the blanc - I put the apple guard conditioner on it and these light inky blue spots appeared on the leather all over the bag as soon as I applied the conditioner. I was freaked. I tried to rub it off but the spots stayed. After about an hour though (when the conditioner was thoroughly dried, I guess) the blue spots disappeared. Don't know what that was all about, but it's been fine ever since and I think the apple guard made the leather softer.
And, yeah, all the Chloe paddingtons with brass hardware have silver zippers - it's part of the style - the mix of hardware colors. I love it.

I am not sure about shipping to Japan. I got Appleguard Leather Care, not the cleaner. The cleaner is useless. Link: www.leatherstuff.com

The Leather Care is more of a cleaner/conditioner in one, plus it offers some waterproofing protection.
