Why does everyone in front row feel the need to cross their legs?

It's a creative, shocking collection, but nothing my grandmother, who was possibly one of the earliest couture wearer in Asia would like to spend money on.
It is sad, for I still adore, and love all those stunningly gorgeous garment she left in her closet. I have always dreamed of wearing couture like she did but I realised that there are fewer and fewer options left now. I guess I am someone who stayed in the past?

yes it is! take a look at those HQ... how perfectly detailed evrything is, the embroderies, the amazing volumes, the vibrant shades of blood red!

i only wish next couture show would be half as good as this one! john hasnt delivered anything remarkable for dior (not couture, not RTW) since the origami couture collection, and that one wasnt even close to this!

^^i am absolutly serious ... the origami was fantastic regarding craftsmanship, all those ruffles, impossible volumes, beyond beautiful colours of fabric... but it was bloody predictable! yet another pink and blue and violet and all-the-palette-available collection where the only focus seemed to be well geishas and Mme Butterfly. He explored Asia and the only thing he could get out of it was black chignons and paper folds! we already know he can make a piece of taffeta stand on its own as if it was a living being!!

i truly like this ss06 collection because instead of delivering everything he could think of, he focused on the use of fabric, on a specific colour scheme, he focused on a very specific period of time, doing both an exercise of restriction and over-the-top stravaganza

given two different ideas to anyone with design and art skills like "asian culture" and "french revolution", i am sure the results from what people would have drawn of the former would be a lot more similar to galliano's than those from the latter. who could seriously think of these master pieces with theme being something so unliked to fashion history as a popular revolution

... and i guess that's why i am not kidding you

Wow, then I guess we can agree to disagree. When all personal preferences are set aside, I think SS 07 is the best Dior collection of the past 4-5 years and SS 06 has to be one of the weakest (and I liked that collection as well)...one of the reasons being that the theme of Marie-Antoinette is a theme that he had touched upon SO often already...but yeah, we can agree to disagree :P

this was one of the first fashion shows i saw, it made me love this world.
Galliano is such a creative genious, i love his work.
One of my tattoos is a "1789" below my left collar bone, in resemblance of this collection!
